Dr Mary McGarry
Having studied in Galway University, Dr McGarry (known as Maire) became fully registered in Ireland in 1975. She continued her medical career in London as a trainee in theSt Bartholomews programme for GP trainees. General practice became her main medical interest and she became a partner in a large medical practice in Manchester in 1988. In 1998 Dr McGarry became the clinical lead in the practice and continued to run this large successful practice until 2010 when she returned to her native Galway. Her main interests were in the provision of clinics providing a high standard of care to patients out of the usual surgery times, patients with a general range of symptoms, from minor injuries to management of childhood illnesses to chronic disease management and disease prevention.
Of a Saturday, id usually think no GP is open on a weekend,but i was told about Weekend Doctor and can i just say how friendly and professional Dr McGarry is,called at short notice and took me in straight away,Top class👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 …
As always Dr McGarry was thoroughly professional, caring and insightful and available. A worrying throat infection in my son is progressing as she predicted. Thanks once again.
We’ve been going to Dr McGarry for over three years since our baby was small after she had severe white coat syndrome (due to an appalling situation from another doctor). She has transformed our little lady, completely calmed her down since day one, and loves to visit her now. Doctor Mary gave me her time to explain everything so we can trace the problem. She’s a very nice and sweet person. She gave me what I needed.
Dr McGarry was a brilliant help for me. About a month ago, my family had recently moved house and my eldest dd with special needs suddenly had a seisure. On the recommendations of a friend, I contacted Dr Mary and she helped me to ensure my dd was safe and well. She contacted a paediatrician in the UK on our behalf to double check what meds were required, including emergency meds, to ensure my dd's safety and faxed them to a late opening pharmacy. I cannot thank her enough for her generosity of spirit and huge support and help. We spoke again the next day, to see how my dd was doing. I will be forever grateful. My family and I have been seen by Dr McGarry a number of times. Each time she has been incredibly thorough and kind. She has followed up with phone calls to make sure the medication or course of action she has recommended is effective and has gone to such trouble to make referrals for follow on treatment etc.
Excellent service. Had to go there last weekend due to a sports injury. Really good, thorough and caring doctor.
Such a kind and empathetic doctor, I went to Mary with a really bad sinus infection and she was just so kind and sympathetic and actually listened and showed empathy. Such a kind lady.
The Doctor here was amazing, she really took the time to listen and explore every avenue. I felt she was not rushing anything and wanted to know my history. I would definitely come back here. It is amazing that there is the out of hours service too, I took a bad turn and she saw me very promptly.

My son attended this marvellous doctor yesterday at short notice. He was examined thoroughly and his care and treatment under Dr McGarry is ongoing. I was very happy with how she treated my son, especially as I wasn't present. Thank you Dr McGarry.
My son became very ill over this past weekend and I called Dr. Mc Garry on Sunday afternoon. She saw him within half an hour of being contacted and the care and attention he received was remarkable. She called him later that evening and also the following day to see how he was feeling and to provide him with test results. This GP is truly caring and professional and we are most fortunate to have a weekend service of this very high standard at Nile Lodge Clinic here in Lower Salthill.... (Show more)

Just returned from another visit at the WD to renew a simple prescription. Regardless of the visit Dr McGarry is highly professional and welcoming and makes one feel comfortable in her care. Excellent care and detailed attention given to my partner. We were only visiting the area and needed medical assistance. Agreed to meet us straight away it was a sunday morning. I could not possibly thank Mary enough as I was very worried. Outstanding service keep up the good work.
I found this doctor excellent. I would highly recommend. My mum and brother have been before and both found her brilliant. She takes time to check you out and isn't quick to just throw a prescription at you. In my opinion she's one of the good ones and I would definitely recommend this doctor.
I was visiting Galway from Boston when I ended up with terrible conjunctivitis. Dr. McGarry treated me with the utmost speed and care you could imagine. I visited Dr Mary Mcgarry with a problem of blood in my urine and l ended up with a full checkup and my bloods taken and processed in the hospital and a report by phone all in one day. I also was put in contact with a consultant to check out my prostrate. I have never ever met a more professional Doctor in my life. To say that she is excellent does not do her justice. She is thorough, Kind, considerate, helpful and unaffected and just a pleasure to deal with. She also happens to be very experienced and smart. I recommend her as the best in lreland. My experience of this clinic has been a very good one and it has renewed my faith in real medical vocation. I recommend it to anybody young or old and if you don't believe me try it for yourself....
