Excellent service, lovely staff. Highly recommended.
My son has had the absolute best care I've ever seen from any dental establishment or orthodontist. We were so incredibly happy with every step and thorough treatment and time taken to make all decisions regarding Thomas's treatment and we were involved in deciding whether to do certain things. I can't recommend total orthodontics enough. We had 5 star treatment and our consultant was amazing , he has red hair and he was just so kind and made my nervous son feel extremely relaxed and I can never thank him enough for his beautiful treatment and perfect result's with Tommy's mouth and how much he went out of his way to be so lovely and warm to my son and indeed my self. All the staff are amazing the receptionist's are amazing and helped make sure our appointment's didn't effect Tommy's schooling and the ladies doing the changing of braces were equally great. I can not fault one step of the whole wonderful experience. Our greatest thanks and I'd recommend total orthodontics to any one who wants perfection and amazing treatment. Thank you all, you're an amazing team . Yours sincerely, Thomas Gordon and Claire Davenport mother of Thomas.... (Show more)
Very bad experience. ;)
A previous appointment for 8.30am was apparently cancelled by post (which we never received) and rearranged for 8am so my son had a wasted trip. The next appointment has also been cancelled and rearranged for a couple of weeks later. I understand his Orthodontist is only available one afternoon and one morning each week and these are very difficult times for us to accommodate. The lack of availability of appointments at accessible times to us is dragging out treatment and I'm concerned as to how his treatment will be completed when he goes to Uni.... (Show more)
Extremely pleased with my two new crowns after a month of putting them through a rigorous test! Thank-you Janet and team for your perseverance, professionalism and well received good humour.
Arrived early. Appointment was 2.15pm, was called at 14.37! No explanation had to go to the desk. We are paying for this treatment not a good service so far. Sorry.
My son had his braces here. Therapists all lovely and happy to advise. I rang a few times with concerns and was always given helpful and friendly advice.
They have been cancelling my appointments since March, i understand that there is covid but they shouldn't cancel as much as they have. My braces are falling apart and they won't see me its so frustrating hence the 1 star. Will update when they finally see me.
I wouldn’t recommend this dentist if you’re a person of colour as I found my experience in this orthodontics was not pleasant the whole two years I was here. I found some of the receptionists specifically Jax extremely rude. There was one receptionist who was so lovely unfortunately I don’t remember her name, but she was working besides the arrogant receptionist. On one recent occasion I went over to speak to the receptionist as advised by the dentists and Jax decided to interrupt as if the receptionist I was speaking to couldn’t speak for herself. Jax was aggressive in her tone and doesn’t know how to interact with patients at all. There is a way to explain things and I found her approach intimidating and disrespectful. Furthermore, on a separate occasion I attended with my sister and one of the receptionists was clearly discriminatory as if she had never seen someone with a hijab on before and gave disgusting glares towards my sister. I don’t know what gives some of these receptionists the audacity. If anyone looks slightly different to them, you’ll get stared at like a zoo animal. I know that Harrogate is a predominantly white area but that is no excuse for prejudice. If you can’t do your job whilst treating everyone equally, you shouldn’t be working there. Moreover, when I’d attend for my appointments the dentist who approached me to get my braces tightened would usually approach me by saying my name and asking me how I was. Consistently, every time I asked them, they would ignore me, and I knew they had heard me. There was a lack of patient centred care and it was simply, rude and ill-mannered. My penultimate appointment was one of my worst experience and left me feeling extremely upset. First of all, every time I attended, I had a different dentist working on me, so it was always quite an anxious experience as if going to the dentist wasn’t anxious enough already. When I had my braces taken off, the dentist didn’t even bother to introduce herself or smile and I had two other random people I had never met looking down at me. I felt extremely uncomfortable and quite afraid really that these people were just prodding at me with drills and I didn’t even know their names. I don’t remember the dentists name unfortunately, but I found her quite intimidating. I thought getting my braces off was meant to be an exciting moment, but I didn’t even get offered a mirror to see how they looked. I left the dentist feeling really upset. I had spoken to one of the dentists there who took my pictures at the end of my appointment who was also a POC (unfortunately, I don’t remember her name) and she was really nice and apologised when I told her about my experience. She took her time to listen to my concerns and made me feel at ease and less anxious being there which I really appreciate. Dr Riley was also nice throughout my whole experience and that’s about it. The recent dentist who also fitted in my retainers was helpful and explained everything perfectly. I’m not sure whether it is because NHS patients get treated differently to private patients or whether it is because I look different and I’m a person of colour or if the some of the staff just lack key communicational skills, but the atmosphere overall wasn’t great and could definitely do with improving. I’m not the only patient there, my sister has also experienced the same thing, so it is obvious something needs to change. I’d be upset for anyone else to experience the same thing I experienced here. Despite all of this, my teeth look much better and I’m extremely thankful for all the work they did as I feel much more confident in my smile but it’s a shame about everything else.... (Show more)
My daughter has received excellent care pre-Covid and whilst it is appreciated that is difficult for the practice to operate during pandemic conditions, here is some feedback as to how we have found the service since the practice has been able to re-open. Communication - there appears to be very limited opportunities to discuss and raise any questions the patient would like to ask post treatment. Is the facility via a separate phone appointment with the technician or through email via the practice’s website? Normally a parent would sit with the patient whilst treatment is taking place, there is currently nothing in place to make up for communicating with the technician on what to look out for, how to deal with matters post treatment. We have received an appointment card with a note written on it for our next appointment in a couple of days time. Whilst I am happy to phone up to seek clarification on the note, are you expecting young adults/ teenagers to pass on full messages to parents after their appointment? My daughter had left her appointment by the time I was on my way to collect her crossing the road so there was no opportunity for me to discuss with the technician how the treatment went, what we need to do going forward, if there needs to be a further review etc I would be grateful if you could bear the above in mind. Some of us have to travel a distance to attend and to not use or be given the opportunity to find out about or discuss the treatment most patients have never received or experienced before, is disappointing. Thank you... (Show more)
Really good friendly service thank you
Staff were friendly and the clinic has a nice environment. But the person who was treating me wasn't wearing a face mask and accidentally spat in my mouth whilst talking.
Very friendly staff .Is tricky to get to as entrance is set well back from the main rd.best way to get there is a road behind odeon cinema car park follow that to total orthodontics car park their car park is staff only but if u go inside they can give you a pass for 2 hour free on street parking nearby. Allow extra time to find parking.... (Show more)
After recently completing my orthodontic treatment I cannot recommend this practice enough! Patient care is outstanding with a friendly team who work fantastically together, reception, nurses and therapists! Jo made me feel very at ease being a nervous patient. Dr Riley was fantastic throughout, explaining the process every step of the way and checking at every visit how I was progressing. The prices are very competitive too which is a bonus!... (Show more)
Do not send your kids there. Criminal incompetence. My son wore braces for 2 years, had the permanent retainers fixed, and as they made a mess of it, the retainers came off, the teeth moved and we have to start all over again. Only this time they told me to pay on private basis. You will hardly every see the same person twice, dismissive attitude.... (Show more)
My daughter was fitted with a brace in July 2018. The atmosphere was friendly and we were always treated with professionalism from the receptionists, nurses and Mr Roberts-Harry. A big shout out for kat who we saw at every appointment and was brilliant. My daughter was very nervous but was immediately put at ease by Kat from her initial appointment. Kat has been amazing, so patient, kind and friendly and the care and attention to detail has been outstanding. My daughters results are unbelievable and she now has a celebrity smile. My experience at Total Orthodontics Harrogate was exceptional and I would highly recommend them. Thank you so much.... (Show more)
Very friendly, efficient and professional service from everyone at this practice. The teeth straightening process and options were explained clearly and I’m very happy with the end result! Now undertaking whitening and that’s going very well. I recommend this practice wholeheartedly.
Really great service
Spent thousands here on Invisalign treatment some years ago. Called to cancel an appointment booked 12 July, on 3 July. It wasn’t cancelled and I was abruptly told I had wasted clinic time. I was going to drive up from West Sussex for my 30 min appointment to arrange another Invisalign treatment. Interesting approach to aftercare.... (Show more)
A voicemail message late morning to return their call regarding my daughters appointment. I rang twice - straight to voicemail (I did leave a message) in the end I got through at 2.30 to be told the appointment was cancelled due to staff sickness. Fair enough, however Practise Manager for those of us running our own businesses and juggling staff and children it would have been most helpful to have been told this at 10.30am on the original voicemail or sent an email to that effect. Your staff member spouting data protection piffle that you can’t give cancellation details when you have my daughters full name and details of her appointment is pure poppycock and the fake ‘apologies’, ‘apologies’. Why can no one say sorry anymore. Today you cost me time, money and inconvenience and didn’t give two hoots.... (Show more)
