Recently have had two spinal procedures, by Mr McGillion. The second was more complex. Stayed three nights, the Surgeon, Nurses and all staff were superb. Fantastic inpatient and after care.
Attended yesterday for Hernia Repair. Was supposed to be day case but was unwell afterwards so advised to stay the night. Lovely aneathetist Francois. Other than Vanya(Recovery) Nicole and Sam on the ward, the staff showed no interest in their work nor empathy for me. 4am pain meds never came, and when I pointed it out to the nurse responsible, no apology. Ward Doctor spoke to me about my keyhole surgery( I didn’t have keyhole), Prescription for antihistamine never came Hadn’t expected to stay in so not taken overnight bag. I had been sick and asked if they had a toothbrush…3 staff hunted and said no, they didn’t. I see photos of cooked breakfast a year ago . Today it was cereal or toast.Bell left well out of reach, same with jug of water and remote to turn fan off.In extreme pain in ribs made any movement very hard but offered no help from nurses to raise/lower bed, sort pillows etc.Nurses just not interested in patients.... Excellent treatment given by all the staff. Very efficient and caring.
After finding out I had to have spinal surgery and fusion on my neck. I was referred the hospital. Such a friendly and professional team from start to finish. My spinal sergeant was amazing and the whole team surrounding him left me feeling safe and it's got the situation with my neck resolved could rate this place highly enough... (Show more)
Lots of parking. Great staff. Didn't have to waite long. Nice free coffee machine in the reception and waiting areas.
Can’t review the treatment but the initial customer service is awful. Took two days to phone my wife back, unfortunately she was in the shower when they called, was given a direct number to call them back, tried five times over two days and no one answered, and no one tried calling her back either. Not a great impression and went elsewhere for treatment,... (Show more)
I’ve just had rhizolysis injections in 4 discs in my back done at the hospital. From my initial enquiry and then booking to see Mr Quaye in March and having them done, the care I received has been absolutely excellent. I’ve had these done before but with no anaesthetic or sedation but they’ve been extremely painful with me having to ask another consultant to stop mid procedure. I decided to seek out an alternative consultant and when I met Mr Quaye he explained that I’d have them done under heavy sedation and I wouldn’t feel anything. Well he wasn’t wrong. I had sedation and I didn’t feel anything. I also had an epidural as well. I was taken back to my room where both Mr Quaye and the anaesthetist came to see how I was. I was given a light lunch to eat and then I could go home. The care I received here has been nothing short of outstanding and I wouldn’t hesitate to have this procedure repeated again when the need arises.... (Show more)
Outstanding nursing and consultant staff, however the same cannot be said for the reception staff who enjoy berating patients and their wage payers in front of other patients when DEMANDING a swipe of a credit card, I use all the other private hospitals in the area and the WN is the only one that aggressively demands a card swipe. You’ve been warned. I use BUPA (who I will inform of this practice) and have NEVER not paid a bill in 20 years... (Show more)
I was in for 2 nights following a partial knee replacement. Huge thank you to Reena, Jane and Caitlin for your wonderful care and encouragement. This is how all hospital experiences should be.
My experience at Nuffield Chandler’s Ford was extremely unsatisfactory. I had an initial consultation with Mr Michael Phillips who is a vascular surgeon to discuss removal of varicose veins on my leg. The so-called consultation lasted approximately 5 minutes and I literally had to draw the information out of him, he surely was man of a few words, a huge let down for an expensive hospital such as this one. I then had a duplex ultrasound which was extremely short and again very non-descriptive. I have never been to a hospital where I have felt more unbriefed, unreassured and then robbed of my money (£350 in total) for spending a few unenlightening minutes in a doctor’s office. He sent me home with a leaflet info on varicose veins. I could have looked it up on google for free.... (Show more)
Administration is appalling. Charges not specified up front and turned out to be shockingly high. Cannot be contacted by phone and emails not responded to. They prefer to threaten legal action as a means of collecting payment.
I was very hesitant having LASIK surgery but after meeting Mr David Anderson at Nuffield hospital in Chandlers Ford, I was very reassured by his professional calm manner. He came highly recommended by my optometrist who couldn’t praise him any more to correct my eye sight successfully.. Mr David Anderson has a confidence and enthusiasm about his profession that makes you feel relaxed. He demonstrated to me a similar simulation of the surgery procedure to prepare me for what to expect. Mr Anderson and his team were fully supportive to make sure I knew everything there was to know about the surgery. The procedure was very quick, a little strange but more importantly painless, we all listened to the 80’s music whilst Mr David Anderson performed the surgery. All I had to do is stare at a dot amongst a splurge of red and green patterns for 15 seconds. There is a lot of after care with a variety of drops. I would advise everyone to make sure you have the anaesthetic drops handy for the journey home as the first day your eyes will need them. My husband helped me with the routine of the variety of drops that are crucial for the first few weeks. It all helps with the heeling process. I went to see Mr David Anderson a few days later after surgery for him to check my eyes and I was amazed to find I had 20/20 vision! I had gone from severe astigmatism in my left eye, wearing glasses or contacts since I was nine years old, to amazing sight where I can see clear definition and drive at night with no problems. It has transformed my life. I can ride my road bike without my lenses turning, I can snorkel and see clearly and just looking around me everywhere looks so defined, like looking in 4K! Mr David Anderson definitely changed my life for the better and considering the cost of £4,500, the 3 consultations and any other alterations you may need to improve the surgery ( eg: my prescription was complicated and Mr Anderson thought I might need 2 procedures) , we’re all inclusive and the after care of numerous drops for each eye. I think the cost was amazing value as I was spending £100 each year for contact lenses! My glasses were nearly £500 this is not including the contact lens solution £20 every 3 months and the optician appointments. I would without any doubt recommend Mr David Anderson to anyone as he will change your life beyond your imagination.... (Show more)

Great from start to finish. Special mention to the phlebotomist, Nicole, who was lovely, funny, knowledgeable and kind. Mr surgeon, Mr Kuofi, was fantastic. Food great and day or surgery went smoothly. My one small complaint was dealt with efficiently and thoroughly. 100% recommend to all.
DONT DO IT! I had a Lumber Puncture procedure in July, a very unpleasant and terrifying experience, which now has to be repeated because the hospital ignored the request from my Neurologist in London, albeit I Emailed it to them myself Today my repeat Lumber Puncture was cancelled by Email because no one will pick up the phone and talk to my Neurologist and agree what is required. A few years ago this hospital saved my life, something has gone very wrong down there!... (Show more)
I used the Nuffield Hospital for a private MRI Scan. The process and all staff I met with initially were flawless. I got my results in a timely manner along with a report of the findings. Due to the seriousness of the matter being looked at I requested the MRI images so that I could forward them to my life insurance company for a second opinion. I received the images and naturally had look through them. I found a rather obvious anomaly, given that I am not a brain specialist, which caused some alarm and raised this with the Nuffield. I received an email from the radiology manager, Martin Coleman, who advised that the radiologist making the report, Jason Macdonald (4427313) "was unwilling to go further" about the images... Happy to take my money but not to do much else in helping with actual medical concerns.... (Show more)
Amazing service, so glad I met Mr Shetty and was so impressed with the whole operation experience. Recommend everyone considers this for hip replacement surgery.
Dr. McGillion, his team and his new robot he used to literally give my spine a new lease of life have been absolutely amazing. Professional, empathetic, kind, reassuring. He always has time to answer any questions, puts you at ease and makes you feel confident in his superb sills and expertise. Best decision I've made to be operated on by him and his theatre team. Special thanks to the Anasthetist for keeping me breathing and pain free for the most part 😉Couldn't recommend them enough. Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital staff have been incredible. Best care I've ever had. The amount of knowledge, compassion, attention to detail, dedication, empathy and patience that they display day/night is truly breathtaking and rather refreshing. They're led by a brilliant Director, Thelma Anderson who's professionalism, fantastic organisational skills, understanding and effectiveness seem to replicate in her team of great people, whether it's in housekeeping department, catering, physio, nurses or consultants. I'm currently recovering from my spinal surgery and I can honestly say that recovery has definitely improved with a help of balanced meals (check out the photos of dishes I was served) prepared by the hospital chef and his team and a tender care of nurses, HCAs, doctors, pharmacist and physio girls. Go #nuffieldhealthwessex Hospital! 🏆 #NHS watch & learn 😁... (Show more)
