Dr Marea Brennan Thorns RN NIP MSc
Marea Brennan Thorns is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and co-founder of the MBNS Clinic and Qutis Clinics. Marea originally studied art but after qualifying, changed direction and moved immediately into nurse training. After becoming a registered nurse in 1976, Marea completed a post registration qualification in intensive and coronary care nursing. Armed with this, Marea secured a position as a senior sister and moved to Holland where she specialised in Cardiac Surgery ITU Nursing at the University Hospital of Utrecht for 4 years. On returning to England Marea found the NHS culture quite different to that in Holland and embarked on a new career in pharmaceutical and medical devices companies. After 12 years and several jobs Marea felt the pull to move back into nursing in independent practice. In 1996, Marea worked as a peripatetic aesthetic nurse before co-founding Medico Beauty Nurse Services (MBNS) in 1999 with fellow business partner and nurse practitioner, Stephanie Green. During 2001-2004 Marea chaired the Royal College of Nursing’s forum for nurses working in aesthetic medicine and was a member of the steering group responsible for the development and publication of Aesthetic Nursing Competencies, now available from the RCN. She has been instrumental in developing advanced soft tissue augmentation injection techniques for lip enhancement, as well as optimal correction of facial lines and facial sculpting. More recently, she has been involved with injection technique training courses, for cosmetic use of [Treatment name removed] Treatments and volumetric lifting of the face. She is a frequent speaker at national professional conferences and seminars. Marea was a member of the Allergan faculty of VISTABEL® validators. In June 2007 Marea completed an advanced nurse qualification as an Independent Nurse Prescriber at Oxford Brookes University. Marea has continued to study at Oxford Brookes University and has recently gained a Master of Science Degree (MSc). Her research dissertation was titled “The transition process from NHS to private practice for nurses working in aesthetic medicine and the experience of mentorship”. Quite appropriate given her experience!

Super friendly staff who made me feel welcome straight away. I had laser hair removal and anti-wrinkle injections. The treatment was detailed in person and they made me feel very comfortable asking lots of questions, as I was nervous before. They played very relaxing music and asked me how I felt throughout the laser treatment. Marea gave me my anti-wrinkle injections. She clearly is an expert in her field. I have recently completed dental surgery, and I noticed that my mouth had changed shape. I initially thought I wanted injections around my mouth. I attended a consultation which was thorough and professional. The consultant discussed what I wanted and informed me that if I concentrated solely on my mouth area, it was probable that I would then start to focus on other areas of my face, and individual treatments would be more expensive. Having focused my efforts on others for many years, I decided I would invest in myself. I have completed 3 of 8 treatments, which have lifted the deep lines on my brows and around my eyes. I had a wonderful Hydrafacial at Qutis in Witney last week. It is the best beauty treatment I have ever had. My skin felt amazing afterwards and I floated home!
I've been going to MBNS Thame and Qutis Witney Clinics since 2004, have had treatments with Marea, Paula, Emma, Gemma and regularly deal with Ellie who helps with purchases, bookings etc .. Everyone is always professional, welcoming and friendly. I've had various treatments over the years and always been explained procedures, after treatment care and felt re-assured prior to any new or existing treatment. The fact I've been supporting these two clinics over the past the 18 years (and still continue to), says how much I respect both clinics for the high quality of treatments, professionalism and have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending both Clinics!... I've had numerous treatments at Qutis including: IPL for sun damage on my face; cautery for dozens of ugly seborrheic keratoses (benign moles) all over my torso; and hydro facials on my face and torso. I have found all the staff and treatments to be very thorough and professional, and have been absolutely delighted with all the results. My skin is now so much clearer, smoother, even-toned, softer and generally peachy! I will be recommending Marea and the clinic to my GP, who had previously told me I would just have to live with the moles or have them individually dealt with at huge cost. The cautery at Qutis was a revelation: all moles blitzed quickly and effectively in one session, with a follow-up 10-12 weeks later included in the very reasonable price. I've been going to Quits for years and all of the staff are so lovely. I now get monthly HydraFacial's with Jade and she is amazing, she has completely saved my skin. I wouldn't go anywhere else!
