As someone who walked into Pennypots physically shaking and walked out with an unbelievable weight off my shoulders I can certainly attest to just how wonderful they are, the reception staff are helpful, polite and very approachable and Dr.Bopanna and his assistant were amazing, truely patient, listened to all of my worries and concerns and completely put me at ease. I had a dental emergency, and as I’m new to Walmer and not yet registered with a dentist, I decided to phone around and see which dentist could help me. Luckily Pennypot was the first ones I phoned and very helpfully were able to fit me in the next day. I am very pleased with all aspects of my visit, the receptionists and the excellent dentist. Dr. Adi (Dr. Limbu) completely rebuilt a molar, when an old filling fell out, leaving a a crater but not much tooth. The molar looks and feels completely new. I am not only astonished but grateful for his excellent skills and the pain-free repair of this tooth.

In general I find the reception not too friendly (although the new young girl did her best to help me). The dentist left my 5-year old with a wobbly tooth with a major cavity after 3 injections of local anaesthetic. Whilst I appreciate removing a young child's tooth isn't easy, its far better than leaving a child in absolute agony for what would have been 5 months before our 'emergency referral' at the hospital where he would have undergone general anaesthetic, which also carries major risks. Have now left the surgery. ** update ** over 4 years later my new dentist referred my son (without telling me) to pennypot for some extractions prior to his brace being fitted. They claimed ‘not to have received the referral’ when I called to check even though my dentist assured me it had been done. When I called back a month later for an update they said they still hadn’t had it. Then miraculously they ‘found it’, refused treatment (entirely expected) and referred it back into the community. Whilst I’m not concerned and understand why they have chosen not to see him, they have chosen petty, spiteful and entirely unprofessional behaviour to waste 2/3 months, which has delayed my sons brace work by 3 months. Pathetic. For the record they have chosen not to respond to my initial review or take on board any of my legitimate concerns, they simply ‘blacklisted’ my whole family after not removing my original review. That’s not a business that has their customers best interests at heart. Comply and do not complain if you wish to be seen.... (Show more)

Thank you for your review and updated version, unfortunately we are unable to reply personally due to confidentially and are unsure when your original review was made. Please be assured we do take complaints very seriously and would have discussed this with the dentist and team at the time. With regards to your updated review, we are sorry we didn’t meet your expectations. However, please note when a referral is made from another dental practice we are unable to see the referral unless it is sent directly to us. In general on some occasions children will be triaged to community dental practice, with the factors being age, medication or behavioural issues. I can assure you all of our referrals are checked daily. However, unfortunately if it has not been received we cannot do any more. Whoever you spoke to at the our practice would have informed you to speak to your dental practice, as they and the practice in receipt of the referral would be the only persons able to view said referral. On some cases we will liaise with referring dental practices to alert them that we have not received a referral if the patient has contacted us. We do this as sometimes the referring dental practice are unaware who the referral has gone to without physically going on to the referral site and checking. They could not have gone to the referral without being alerted to something wrong. In regards to refusing to see your child or family, we would not have refused to see your child because of your negative review but explained that if our service did not meet your expectations at the last visit that it would be best you seek treatment with a practice you trust.

Unfortunately, we are unable to reply personally due to confidentiality. However, please note, we are unable to continue to see patients who repeatedly failed to attend appointments. This is not a decision taken lightly but too much time is lost through missed appointments and cancellations at short notice, and it is unfair to other patients who have to wait for an appointment. Once we are informed by a patient that they and their family no longer wish to attend our practice, we note this on the system. This ensures they no longer receive any correspondence from the practice. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. We wish you well with your next dental practice.

Penny pot dentist have absolutely restored my confidence in visiting the dentist. I have consistently struggled to visit a dentist for many many years. However I was recently treated by Dr Ali Al-Shujairi and his dental nurse, the kindness that I received from both alongside their incredible patience and wealth of knowledge and reassurance was something I can never thank them for. My daughter chipped a baby tooth, she was seen quickly, required the tooth and one other (baby tooth loose) to be removed with local anaesthetic. This was the first time she has had to have this done so was upset. The dentist handled it so well putting her at ease. Very grateful for the care.

I arrived at the dentist and was checked in by the most pleasant and polite receptionists. I had barely sat down and was called to see the dentist. The dentist listened to my problem, checked my tooth and X-rayed the tooth. The X-ray showed a cracked wisdom tooth. I went back to the reception and paid and was told when a appointment was available. This was a wonderful experience and hopefully everything will soon be sorted. Naishad (Nash) graduated in 1990 from University of Liverpool. After graduation, he began his Vocational Training and then continued as an associate dentist in East London. He then relocated to Hythe in 1993 to set up Pennypot Dental in Hythe. Nash started the original Pennypot Dental Practice in Hythe and since then he has dedicated his time to train newly qualified dentists. Dr. Patel is among a very few dentists who are selected to provide this important role in the areas of Kent, Surrey and Sussex. At the moment, Nash works at Pennypot Dental Hythe as well as managing his three new practices in Hawkinge, Deal and New Romney. He worked at Kent & Canterbury Hospital Oral Surgery Department for one year to improve his skills in complicated extractions and has worked in the Specialist Unit of Mayday Hospital in Croydon, to improve his skills in advanced Restorative work. Nash believes in continuous learning and he attends many courses to ensure Pennypot Dental is providing the highest standards of service and treatment to its patients in a safe environment. He has also recently completed courses in advanced smile design held by the countrys leading dentists in the field. Nash has a special interest in general dentistry, endodontics, restorative dentistry, full mouth reconstruction and sedation for nervous patients. He particularly enjoys providing cosmetic treatments such as smile design where the results can be life changing and improve patients’ confidence.

Manoj graduated from Guys Dental Hospital and has been at Pennypot Dental since 1999. He is a specialist in Prosthodontics. He provides specialist care such as dental implants, full mouth reconstructions, cosmetic treatment and advanced restorative treatments to not only Pennypot patients but also to patients from other practices in Kent through referrals. He is also able to offer treatments under sedation for nervous patients.He has worked as a Specialist Registrar in Prosthodontics at Guys dental hospital treating the most difficult dental cases. Through continuous study, passing two fellowship exams and gaining a Masters in Clinical dentistry, Manoj is a highly experienced specialist in this field. He has furthered his knowledge and experience by completing advanced implant and dental courses around the world. He regularly gives lectures and mentors local dentists. He has taught dental students in the past at Guys Dental Hospital.
