About Oxford Counselling & Psychotherapy Existing in the world is not always easy. It can result in you feeling misunderstood by others or feeling alone, even though there are lots of people around. Sometimes it means life is a struggle and you can end up feeling stuck, unable to move forward. Perhaps something doesn't feel quite right but you're not sure what it is. Relationships can be complicated and communication difficult. The past can keep troubling you or the future can seem anxiety-provoking or bleak. Traumatic events from the past can leave you feeling shattered and broken inside. Do you ever find yourself repeating the same mistakes and asking 'How have I ended up here again?'. Whether you have been given a particular diagnosis from a GP/medical practitioner or have a general sense that something in your life is not working for you, I recognise that it's not always easy to be in the world and offer Counselling and Psychotherapy as a way of exploring whatever it is that you might be struggling with. My personal and professional experience lends itself to a strong belief in people and in the therapeutic process and what it can offer. I have over 6 years experience working therapeutically with adults, both in private practice and charitable counselling organisations. My therapeutic work is also supported by over 12 years experience working with vulnerable adults, children, adolescents and families in the public and private sector as well as charities. This has included working in areas such as mental health, homelessness, education, substance misuse and housing and support for complex needs teenagers and unaccompanied asylum seekers in care. I work creatively which means there is an opportunity to work in ways that suit you. For some people, talking therapy isn't always the answer. As well as talking through issues, my work can include the use of art, music, poetry or movement, for example, as a way to explore issues, if this is supportive for you. Therapy can be either short-term, lasting just a few weeks, to long-term which can be for a couple of years.
