Dr Michael Harris
Special interests: Depression and anxiety (primary and treatment resistant) Perinatal mental health (problems that develop during and following pregnancy) Dialectical behavioural therapy informed treatment for personality disorders and developmental trauma. Psychodynamic formulation (understanding how past experiences have shaped one’s perceptions and responses to what happens in the present. Integrative approaches to recovery (utilising evidence-based approaches rooted in as many different modalities as possible). I completed my core psychiatry training in London through the University College London training scheme and after obtaining membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2012, I moved to Brighton to continue higher training. I currently work as a perinatal psychiatrist for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, treating pregnant and post-natal mothers in North West Sussex. I am excited to practice as a psychiatrist at a time when mental health is at last receiving the recognition it deserves. Research is beginning to uncover so much of what was previously uncharted territory. The prospect for a full or substantial recovery from mental illness is growing each year. I am particularly interested in neuromodulation, a treatment modality offering a third dimension to the traditional model of medication with psychological therapy. I am certified to prescribe and administer transcranial magnetic stimulation which is now a well-established and reliable treatment for depression and anxiety. I am a strong believer in patient-orientated care and my aim is to always put my patients’ interests first. I am humbled by the trust my patients place in me and inspired by the battles they face with courage and endless hope.

I cant speak highly enough of onemed, from the beginning working with dr nick he showed full confidence and support in me when I couldn’t see hope. I have seen so much improvement since being with them and my hope is now regained.
The experience I had with this clinic has been really pleasant. The team is highly professional and responsive with clear communication. Overall, highly recommended!
Very supportive and compassionate team. 😎 …
Dr. Nik was very approachable, patient and generally helped. Very much recommended
From start to finish my correspondence with Onemed has been exceptional. My initial appointment was booked quickly and to accommodate personal circumstance the process has been navigated rapidly and smoothly. The staff on reception are friendly, helpful and really responsive - they respond quickly via both email and telephone. My consultant, Dr Nik, helped calm my nerves throughout, was patient, understanding and incredibly knowledgeable. My assessment has been thorough and eye opening - I am looking forward to treatment and continued support from the team.... (Show more)
My experience being treated by Dr Nik and the team at Onemed couldn't have been better. Having sought diagnosis and treatment for adult ADHD the experience was great from the start, the admin team are always very prompt and helpful with any queries and the care of Dr Nik has always been great, he is understanding and very cautious in providing the correct treatment. Very clear in the advice and instructions given. As a result of the care received I have been able to able to start taking medication that has pretty much resolved the majority of my ADHD symptoms. Feeling a lot more happy, confident and capable. I would highly recommend treatment at onemed.... (Show more)
Really professional and patient-focused service. From referral through to first assessment the process was swift and communication was great. Dr Nik is a fantastic and empathetic professional, really able to see the best route forward for me and took time to understand the nuances of my situation. He was particularly considerate in including me in my treatment plan, which contributed to a great feeling of trust. Particular thanks to the admin team who are particularly friendly, helpful and responsive. Great service all round.... (Show more)
Both myself and my husband have been treated by Dr Nik over the last 10 years. He is very clear and honest and has been able to approach mine and my husbands mental challenges very differently especially after my husbands stroke. He challenges our thoughts at each session rather than just listening and has helped us open up about the taboo around metal health. As well as Dr Nik a special mention must go to all the support team involved.... (Show more)
Do not waste your time or money here! They don’t show any real care for their patients when they are questioned regarding their processes or procedures and terminate treatment mid way through diagnosis which for anyone suffering can be extremely stressful I would recommend seeking care elsewhere.
Dr Michael Harris has been amazing and the staff at onemed are also brilliant and very responsive and caring
Dr Nick & the staff at OneMed are outstanding. They are professional and empathetic.
I cannot recommend the services at Onemed enough. Dr Nik and all the supporting team are patient and diligent in both their care and communications, with clear concise guidance and information. If you are looking for somewhere to support, you through your needs and get you to a better place I recommend Onemed.... (Show more)
I went for a private adult autism assessment as I was fed up with not knowing what was wrong with me and feeling different, lucky for me my 10 year old grandson is on the ASD Spectrum or I never would have known to look! I contacted Onemed and got back a speedy reply. From there forwards it was smooth sailing to the assessment date my first part in the process which involved me visiting their offices in Hove (they are kitted out like you would expect a central London office to be!). I met with Jack who was great to deal with then met with Dr Nik a week or so later. Turns out i do have autism, and am going for an ADHD assessment in January too as that seems to be present too! I' strongly recommend their services. Having gone through numerous counsellors, psychologists and even a couple of psychiatrists in my 3 decade quest to find out what the hell was wrong with me, i am still in disbelief at how quickly and effectively i have finally been diagnosed! Could have done with these guys 40 years ago, but they weren't born. Better late than never though. EDIT - 3 months later, ADHD treated successfully, anxiety being treated, insomnia being treated. Happy days. 2ND EDIT - 6 months later. Relationships have improved, I am getting stuff done, nicer to be around, mind is more clear, enrolled in University distance learning, not bad for someone who has been unemployed for 8 years, is on PIP and LCWRA! All thanks to being diagnosed and treated 6 odd months ago.... (Show more)
My experience of psychiatric support/intervention at this practice is excellent. This includes the admin staff who are kind, welcoming and helpful. It is so important when you are struggling with your mental health to be treated with kindness, respect and clarity and that has been my experience of all elements of this practice. I am also a mental health professional as well as a patient and I am impressed from both angles. My daughter has also been given excellent service and treatment, and I have recommended Onemed to two of my friends.... (Show more)
