The staff specially receptionists are extremely rude ,angry, insulting and never helpful, staff never has patient’s record in order so one ends up sharing same information about a million times no matter how many times you go for the same issue

It's hard to explain the system. Doctor can be heard behind the door for children minor injuries unit but no one is called for 2 hours.

Thanks to the lovely staff working on Saturday when I unexpectedly needed their help. Was treated with such kindest by Francesca, Socrat, Geoffrey and the rest of the team. Thank you for the work you do. The nation loves you. X

Took my brother their recently in A&E and he was attended fairly quickly. Doctors and Nurses were co-operative as well.

Awful terrible terrible. I had a life threatening emergency and they administered the wrong treatment! I had to question the doctor and she became rude and snarky. What’s the point of being a doctor if you’d rather kill the patients?

My partner arrived in A&E with sever abdominal pain, the nurse staff were all trainees, one of the trainees cause a Blown Vein, she went in one end and the needle came out the other end. Another trainee, stuck a syringe in his vein to administered some drug but she pushed the liquid in too fast causing more sever pain then when he informed us he felt he was going to vomit, she couldn't be bother to hurry with a container or stand by him while he puked.. When he was finally admitted, he was transferred to the East Ham Ward.. the kitchen did serve broth so I brought in chicken brother from home.. there was a nurse on the night shift that was shouting while patience were meant to be resting.. the next night, that same nurse spent the night kissing her teeth every time a patience requested assistance. the nurses wait for the patience to push the call button to let them know the dextrose is done, if a patience doesn't call they let hours pass till next nurse come on shift.. I brought in vitamin juices for him to drink, but the nurse said no, his liquids must be clear.. yet they gave him conserved orange juice..?? Hygienically, Hospital itself is filthy! I'm in shock of everything partner relayed to me as my daughter was born in that exact hospital years ago in 2015 and the only thing that irritated me was she was immediately dressed after being born and I had to clean up my own spilled blood as I made my way to the bathroom to clean myself off after my little was born.. I wouldn't recommend Newham University Hospital to anyone.... (Show more)

A&E here is absolutely useless. Wait times is 5 and a half ("urgent care" out the window), they don't give patients an order of who will be seen next, people who wait less time get seen sooner before those who've waited longer. Nurses repeatedly call out names of patients that aren't even in the waiting room then disappear for half an hour to come back and do the same again. Genuinely better off performing the surgery yourself at home cause at least it'll be somewhat a solution. Some guy was waiting for 8 hours just to get antibiotics, and was still waiting when I left. Absolute joke.... (Show more)

A&e department were fine. There are a few docs in there that seem to really care about what they do. Reception staff on a&e are nice too, but the nurses in triage are not great. Some are quite rude which just makes your day worse when you are already in a&e. One nurse was actually hurting me and I had to tell her 3 times to stop what she was doing. When she stopped she acted like a brat who didn't get her own way saying 'well then it's your fault I couldn't finish all the tests'. My skin was very sensitive at the time and the blood pressure tests was hurting my skin as it tightened and she kept telling me to relax. The St Andrews Wing has some lovely physiotherapists but unfortunately the reception staff let it down. There's 1 particular lady (who is older than the other lady who was working alongside her) and she is just so rude. Every phone call she made, every person who came in the room, everyone she spoke to - rude. She used her pleases and thankyous, but the tone she spoke to people with was arrogant and impatient. Probably need to find a new workplace love cos that's the opposite of what people need in a hospital!... (Show more)

They gave me a call at 10 am Wednesday to come and pick up the baby while the discharge was planned on friday, i said alright, took time off from work, rushed hime to get things ready cuz initially they said they gonna discharge him on friday , went to the hospital and they told me they can’t discharge him because paper work wasn’t done, and i need to come Thursday to pick him up but Friday i have to bring him back to an eye test, they said it’s not professional to discharge the baby without the paperwork…soooooo professional... They saved my life! all very thoughtful, kind and pleasant. I went through all the wings (unfortunately) from the resuscitation room to the bedrooms on the second floor and I can say that everything has a lot of quality! Everything was very clean! you feel in good hands! the food is not bad either! The only thing I would change is that the resuscitation area is very cold, I was very cold there.

Absolute shambles went to A&e for my wife's unbearable gallstone pain waited for 6 hours and seen by a doctor just telling her to take paracetamol and ibuprofen and booked a ultrasound the next day.. went back ther telling me no one bothered to get out their bed to do an ultrasound and get in contact with the gp! The system is so far behind I'm am absolutely disgraced.

Went in for an imaging test and was in and out in 20 minutes, including waiting time. All staff were friendly, polite and professional.

Incompetent and uncaring staff at the urgent care unit all the way from the receptionist to healthcare assistants and nurses (haven’t had the luxury to be seen by a doctor in spite of a deep cut), they’re all short and impatient with you, which is the last thing you need when you’re feeling so hurt and vulnerable. I understand NHS is short on budget so I can understand the long waiting time but the least they can do is to show a bit of a compassion when they finally get to see you. Also NHS seriously needs to audit the competence of their staff too, horrible job done on my cut and it was really obvious that this person either had very little experience or completely lacked the skills.... A really poorly structured system, was stuck inside for 30 minutes being told by the doctor my mother had been requested for a blood test. We go to the main reception and try to book a blood test on the machine but my mother isn't on the system. So we try to book a new blood test appointment but there are no more slots available today. We go to the blood test room only to be told in a rude tone by a doctor that we need to book an appointment on the machines, we already tried. We tried to explain this but were shut down without being able to explain ourselves. Now we are waiting in the reception being told on a doctor's word that we will have an appointment, there is nothing in writing. My mother told me multiple times that back home (Bangladesh) has more organisation in their hospitals.... (Show more)

My sister in law has just delivered her baby and my brother wanted to go see his daughter however the receptionist who was working said he wasn’t allowed in how inhumane is that stopping a dad from seeing his daughter. It is absolutely disgusting that they didn’t even ask my sister what she wanted to eat I had to talk to them 5 times for them to give her a sandwich and say if she doesn’t want it that’s all there is. Leaving her to sit in dirty bedding because the staff had no clue what they were doing. SERIOUSLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH NEWHAM GENERAL... (Show more)

Dreadful for maternity services. NO ONE answers the multiple phonelines they have. Rude staff except for 1 or 2. Very clearly understaffed and over pressured. Long waiting times. Bad birth experience due to rude and careless midwives. Was left badly bruised for weeks from an unauthorised injection administered to me whilst i was walking

I want to thank all the staff at Newham Hospital Critical Care Team today who looked after my mother in law. She has been in pain all over Christmas with her back. She has refused on a few occasions for us to take her to A&E as she didn’t want to spoil Christmas. Today she was in so much pain I took her to Newham. Ok we did have to wait 8 hrs BUT it was worth it after a X-ray found the cause of the problem.... (Show more)
