I read that only GVB employees receive good help, because they are certainly good at defrauding citizens and stealing millions through government systems!! (see the news about GVB defrauded of millions) (GVB has also regularly had money wrongly taken from my public transport pass. I am KOT-TA (recognized by the state) but after 3 years I am still working with civil servants who have developed a serious personality disorder and want to keep you on the line like a key person. They have 0.0 qualities in mutual communication and 0.0 in solution-oriented-result-oriented thinking.... (Show more)

Good morning, Amsterdam, magnificent city with a thousand faces. To see already, just because the city is at level 0 in relation to the sea and the probable rise in water could one day engulf the city and everything that makes it so charming. And as it is magnificent, you have to avoid the long weekends and other bridges which crowd and fill the city with tourists. I will talk very little about the Red Light District, "unhealthy" curiosity and meeting in packs in the evening, in its crowded streets to watch... in short, leave them alone unless you consume! Coffee shops, no need to advertise them, there are those who come for that, those who stop by out of curiosity, in short it's made for what there is to do there. The nicest (in the sense of quiet, cozy) are often those who are out of the center. And then there is everything else, the magic of the canals, 100km and 1500 bridges which make it, when there are not too many people, a bucolic place with a calm that wins over you as you circulate through its peaceful arteries. You also have to rent a bike to live and beat to the rhythm of Amsterdam, a true art of living which tempts you just as it can be disturbing at first glance. In this regard the idea, as was mine, which would be to stay outside or on the outskirts of the city, either you have transport, good idea, but...or go there by car.. .but parking in town is so expensive (6€/hour), and the fines are so dissuasive, that the best even in terms of economy is to stay in the center and do everything on foot and by bike. And there, you have to let yourself go according to your desires, the landscapes, the parks, the museums... For museums, it is better to book in advance and especially go there in the morning. But above all, take advantage of it and go for it. (My advice, for me no better than the backpacker's guide, or another, to find and understand the most beautiful places, monuments, parks, streets, cafes... of this city) In short, a city that can be breathed in (not just in the coffee shops...), that can be smelled, and that feels good!... Of course I am for ecology and not going to the city center by car makes sense, taking public transport therefore. But when these same public transport are on strike like this Saturday September 10, 2022 and parking is €50 (yes, fifty!) for 7 hours, then Amsterdam truly becomes a city for wealthy people. They don't even pay the money when they sell your scouter. They are not keeping money received for my scouter. Because they want proof of lock. The scouter was sold by VGA.
