On hold for 40 minutes being told to go to a pharmacy. Last time I went to a pharmacy they told me to go to my GP. I went from no 4 to no 6 in the queue at one point. Now I have to wait for a call for an appointment. Why do these people not employ enough nurses to look after their patients. The sickest joke of the lot is their online complaints form asks for a date of birth then makes you scroll through 50 years starting from this month. I suppose you would have to have been born yesterday to accept the nonsensical system they run.... (Show more)
Avoid, get yourself to another doctors ASAP if you actually want to be able to get an appointment or speak to a doctor. Tried calling numerous times on many different days, one day I actually called over 150 times and the phone doesn't ever ring. Just says line busy every single time.
One of the worst gp practices around. Since they merged with hanham it has gone down hill. Edit: Thought I would update this with more info. They regularly mess up repeat prescriptions. My mums strong painkillers she had to order twice and still had to go to gp to get them, even tho it is setup to go over to pharmacy. This time round they had no reason for the mess up and even had pickup from desk on it. Their was also a baby mother at the time I was there with her order not being there too. They don't seem to listen properly and clearly cant read basic facts. One time she ordered them and they didn't do it as they said she hasn't been ordering them regularly even tho she dose. They should let people know if there is a problem. Not wait for people to get to the pharmacy. Not hard to send a text like the NHS dose for appointments. You can even send texts to house phones takes no time at all. The appointments are really bad to. You can be in early morning and still wait an hour to be seen. I'm there personally for mental health/sleep so waiting is very hard for me. They have added to the check in screen how far behind they are. The last time i was there it said 0mins but I waited for 40mins. It makes me wonder how many suffering older people their must be up there. Edit 4/12/23 My mum needed antibiotics as she has COPD with a chest infection. It was too late to get them locally so she asked for boots in Longwell Green so my sister could pick them up now. The GP even asked if she was sure or wanted Asda pharmacy instead, so she definitely knew where to send it as she even quoted the opening times. My sister gets there to find the prescription was sent to oldland common pharmacy instead. So that's nearly £20 in taxes for sod alll. You can't get anymore useless than that. Anything admin/It seems to be broken. I personally can't put up with the service any longer. Reception is extremely rode too. Last time I was up there in person I heard a lady tell someone they will have to wait. Zero common decency at all.... (Show more)
Hopeless avoid
Lovely nurse went above and beyond today. Going through a very upsetting and sad time and she actually listened and asked questions and I didn't feel rushed although I made her late for her next appointment. She really was an angel
Terrible practice avoid
Not easy to get an appointment but if you use the portal to give information about your problem, then you get a very quick answer, or appointment, or prescription or action plan. I prefer this system but of course it is not suitable for people without digital access (and this does need addressing as many people are being excluded from society as more and more services go onto the internet). Hopefully as more people use this system then more in person appointments will become available for those that really need them. An alternative is to use 111 if you have more of a worry but not an urgent medical problem. If you need an appointment then they will book you one directly with the surgery. It's not the "traditional" way of doing things but is effective I have found. The staff in the surgery have always been pleasant and helpful.... (Show more)
Might aswell be closed, can't get anyone to answer phone let alone get to see anyone, shocking
I have just waited to speak to the receptionist to simply get mine and my children’s NHS numbers to give to our dentist. I waited for approx 5 mins at the line, without any acknowledgement from the receptionist what so ever. Whilst she was typing. Well obviously as she didn’t even look up to say she’d be with me when she done, I moved over to be in front of her. Still no acknowledgement. She then called another patient over whom I assume she’d been helping. Didn’t acknowledge me, just looked around me, to speak to him. When I then asked for the NHS numbers, she looked at me like she wanted to kill me. She was abrupt and clearly not wanting to help me. EVERYBODY is under a lot of stress these days. We don’t know peoples individual situations but if you work with the public, you have to be able to not put your hate for your job etc onto them. Doctors and nurses couldn’t be nicer and actually make u feel welcome but the receptionists think they’re something special like you’re a inconvenience to them with their stuck up snide attitude and the way they talk to u and look at you is disgusting the hanham receptionists need to teach them how to do their job cos they quite frankly are vile human beings who talk to the elderly with no respect... Been trying to get a ring back since 8am today, tried 161 times and it's still engaged ,I know for a fact if I go into surgery they won't be on the phone ,I'm sure they just don't answer .really need to speak to a doctor ,so angry .
Had smear test at Oldland this morning. Never an experience to look forward to. However, the nurse, Penny, who carried out the procedure was superb. She explained things to me, providing information on things that I would not thought to ask. Penny was very professional and friendly. I told she is worth her weight in gold!... (Show more)
Absolute terrible doctors! I actually suffer with mental health problems and have my prescriptions on a weekly basis which is never at the chemist on a Thursday. and I have to phone up only to be told that you cannot phone up for a prescriptions. I wouldn't recommend this doctor's to anybody let alone people with mental health problems because they just make it 100 times worse I will be changing very soon.... (Show more)

Once again poor service from the reception of this surgery, it feels you are a inconvenience every time you walk anywhere near the desk, waited to be seen this afternoon, then someone just walks in, waves, and then you are completely ignored, truly terrible customer service, can't fault the doctors and nurses at this practice as they are fantastic, please please send these colleague's to Hanham Surgery to be shown how to do the job properly, as the receptionists there are superb, they seem to be a lot busier, yet seem to treat people with far better manners.... Second time I’ve been here and even though when you check in they say there’s no delay I’m currently 30 mins past appointment time and have been told I have to wait or rebook. The receptionist is rude and this isn’t an isolated incident because the last time I came here it was the same with her. Glad I don’t have to deal with these any more as I’m moving!!!... (Show more)
Absolute superb service, help and guidance
Had occasion to speak to reception twice today and both times the ladies were very helpful and polite. My request was also actioned same day. Thank you.
