Patel has passed his B.D.S. from Government Dental College, Ahmedabad in the year 1970. He started Dental practice in the year 1971. In his early years of practice, he took an active interest in the various activities of the dental association and dental practitioner's society. He has worked as a President for Indian Dental Association, Ahmedabad City Branch and also held various posts like the state and All India level of Indian Dental Association. He has also worked as the Vice President of Gujarat State Dental Council.
