WHAT TO EXPECT: During an initial consultation a thorough case history will be taken; including primary symptoms, time scale and onset. At the same time a past medical history will be taken with details of your current day to day lifestyle; this is all to get an idea of any potential underlying issues and regular activity patterns. This will be followed by an osteopathic examination. The osteopath will ask you to perform some gentle, simple movements whilst assessing muscle and joint quality to feel for any irregularities. Based on the information gathered in the examination the osteopath will arrive at a diagnosis. An explanation of the cause of the current problem will be provided and any remaining questions will be answered. The osteopath will then proceed, with the patient's consent, to provide appropriate treatment. Given the wide spectrum of treatment techniques available to an osteopath, this can range from working on muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons or nerves. Through the use of the latest research evidence to provide the most effective treatment, combined with a clinical environment described as "professional", "calm" and "comfortable", patient satisfaction is guaranteed.
