Dr. Christa Engelbrecht

Highly recommended. I had my first filling at the age of 2 so dentists are not my favourite place to be. Dr Engelbrecht is the best dentist I have had to deal with. Gentle, professional and she resolved all my issues. My entire family is now going to Dr Engelbrecht practice.

This happened a couple of years ago but I just have to get this off my chest. I cannot recommend this dentist. Here is why: We were just coming out of the whole Covid times and I had not been to the dentist in a while. My teeth were a state and I own that, it was my fault. This dental practice was the only one with any openings and I finally decided to book and go. Little did I know that I was in for a bit of a torrid time. The Dr took one look at my teeth and talked to me like I was a child. I have never been talked to like that before or since (I am nearly 40). So condescending. The experience sticks with me even now. She refused to do any work until I had been to the oral hygienist. Suitably chastened I made an appointment and returned a week later. I cannot fault my experience with hygienist, she was fantastic. A pity as I won’t be using her as long as she is attached to the practice. I dutifully turned up for my follow-up appointment hoping to finally get work done. Little did I know that the circus was only just beginning. Never before have I seen a dentist who is so gleeful when they are drilling. Her eyes were shining with delight as she drilled into my teeth and it was most unsettling. Worse was to come. She did what was needed and then got to the final tooth, right at the back of my mouth. She ummed and ahed as bit and finally told me to go to a specialist as she could not fix the tooth herself. I made the appointment and went. The specialist was a fantastic fellow who found working on the tooth difficult as it as so far back and I have a small mouth. I had to go back twice (5 hours in total) and he charged me R10000!!!! The kicker was that he gave the tooth 50/50 and told me to go back to you here for a follow-up to possibly talk about an extraction…. After charging me R10k. After 5 hours of my life and R10k all he could recommend was an extraction????? I saw red and vowed never to return to you. I felt utterly betrayed and a scammed. A few months later one of the fillings you put in on another tooth cracked because it was rotten underneath because you didn’t do a good enough job the first time. I went to another dentist who was horrified that this happened and had to drill almost the entire tooth but managed to save it. He also went ahead and extracted the R10000 tooth and I haven’t missed it for a day. You should have extracted the tooth before sending me to specialist but I wouldn’t be surprised if you got a cut of my fee to him. Anyway that’s my story. In summary you: 1. were terribly condescending to me and made me feel worse about a difficult situation. (Yes I know my teeth were bad, you are going to see bad teeth, you are dentist, you don’t need to talk down to people who are paying you to help them. You are not gods gift to dentistry). 2. Did sub par work on at least one of my teeth (the filling did not last 4 months) resulting in almost a total loss of that tooth and more bills (and no, after you hoodwinked me into going to that specialist, I was NOT going to return to you take you up on that 1 year guarantee). 3. Sent me to an incredibly expensive specialist when you should have been pragmatic and extracted the tooth there and then. It was malformed, hollow, right at the back etc. A little bit of humility and pragmatism goes a long way Dr. I am actively telling people to avoid going to you if the subject ever comes up.... Dr Christa and her team run an excellent dental practice in Stellenbosch. From the friendly and efficient Marshay on the admin side to the very professional and caring Dr Christa and Colleen on the medical side, the experience is only a pleasure. Dr Christa did a complete overhaul of my teeth from February to August 2022, removing all old amalgam fillings safely and doing all required to provide me with a healthy mouth. She explained and followed through on a treatment plan and handled one painful emergency swiftly and with compassion. This is definitely the best dental practice you will find in Stellenbosch. Dr Engelbrect and her team, are all so friendly and professional. I had previously gone to an orthodontist that told me I needed braces for 2 years and jaw surgery. I then went to Dr Engelbrecht and received an amazing treatment, everything was done with such care and I was given such clear communication throughout the process, 6 months later after my Clear Correct treatment and my teeth are perfect. Phenomenal service by all four staff members I interacted with. Dr. Engelbrecht is professional, welcoming, and appears to be at the forefront of newer techniques. Modern, stylish facilities and equipment. Extremely reasonably priced. Easily the best dentist in town.

Dr Engelbrecht and her team did an amazing job on my teeth. I went for consolations to get traditional braces and was told that I was one of the worst cases they have ever seen. Two years minimum. I went to Dr Engelbrecht instead and 8 months later I have perfect teeth with all my problems solved. The technology works, the team is professional, one can track progress along the way and it is very affordable. The only flaw in the system is the discipline of the patient. You have to wear the aligners for 17h-18h day which sounds impossible but once you get into a rhythm it becomes second nature. The treatment is highly recommended.... (Show more)

I am for several years with Dr Christa now. Recently when I was brushing my teeth before bedtime I was thinking... if something comes up with my teeth, I don't worry because I know where to go to. This was a very comforting feeling. Yesterday I have been in the practice again for a little fixing and was like always pleased about the professionality in all areas, including Covid protecting means, effectiveness and friendly atmosphere. Dr. Christa Engelbrecht and her team are really superb, not only do they have a holistic approach to dentistry, but the loving and caring way they deal with each patient, really leaves you smiling when you leave their practice. Dr. Christa Engelbrecht is an amazing Dentist. She is using state of the art equipment and ''fluent" in all the new technologies out there! Both my kids had been to other orthodontists prior, and were told that they would need braces but my suspicions were confirmed when I went to Christa and it turned out both kids are not candidates for normal orthodontics at all. My eldest has perfect straight teeth after 2 appointments - he would have suffered for 2 years with braces only to make his mouth smaller. She built up his teeth and they are now perfect. My youngest is using the myobrace to assist his jaw so that he teeth can come out in the correct place. Both non evasive treatments! I cannot recommend her enough! Thank you Christa!... (Show more)
