He is a part-time consultant to the Dermatology Department at the University of Stellenbosch for over 10 years. Has attended, delivered lectures and chaired sessions at numerous dermatology congresses, both local and abroad. Is a member of the advisory boards of several pharmaceutical companies and is treasurer and member, of the executive committee of the Dermatology Society of South Africa for the past 17 years. Dr Jonathan Smith has experience in all aspects of medical dermatology with a special interest in paediatric dermatology, dermatosurgery, pigment disorders, psoriasis, skin cancer, hair loss, eczema, hair loss, Melasma, Melanoma detection, nail fungus, Psoriasis, Rosacea, redness, Skin Cancer, Actinic Keratosis, Vitiligo, warts, Dermal Fillers, autoimmune disorders and aesthetic/cosmetic dermatology. He has published extensively in journals of dermatology, including guidelines for the treatment of psoriasis in South Africa as part of a working group.
