Dr Tom Hannam
After obtaining his MD from the University of British Columbia in 1995, he completed his training (FRCSC) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University, followed by a two-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hannam has sat on the board of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, and is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Canada, and the European Society for Human Reproduction and Endocrinology. He has presented his research findings on numerous occasions to international peer-reviewed meetings, and is a frequent guest expert on TV and radio. Dr. Hannam founded the Hannam Fertility Centre in 2006.
Dr Kim Garbedian
She obtained her medical degree at the University of Calgary and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. She has since completed a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at Mount Sinai Hospital at the University of Toronto. She manages complex problems related to infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, and fertility preservation. She has clinical and research expertise in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), such as In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Her emphasis is compassionate care that empowers and educates patients so they understand their fertility diagnosis, investigations and treatment options.
Dr Carol Redmond
She graduated from University of Toronto’s (U of T) Medical School, followed by a four year residency in obstetrics and gynecology, then two years’ fellowship training in Reproductive Biology (U of T). Dr. Redmond practiced general obstetrics and gynecology—as well as her specialty, reproductive biology—from 1988 to 1993 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, and has exclusively practiced reproductive biology since 1994. She is a member and contributor to the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS), the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society (PCRS) in the US, and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
Hannam is a top notch fertility clinic. We experienced a failed IVF cycle at another clinic in Toronto and after switching to Hannam the treatment and experience was night and day. Not only are the staff knowledgeable and compassionate but the office is well run in my opinion compared to my last clinic. The doctor actually listened to us and didn't take a cookie cutter approach to treat us. She looked at our issues and created a treatment plan specific to our needs. I know that no where is 100% perfect but my experience here was pretty close to that. The office is also extremely clean and the staff from the front desk to the bloodwork stations and ultrasound are amazing. If it wasn't for them our daughter wouldn't be here with us today. I should also note that they have a phenomenal early pregnancy unit. I had a couple of scares at the beginning and they got me right in to check on me which gave me so much peace of mind to know I had that support. The worst place to go for fertility treatments. Tom Hannam should be ashamed.
We would highly recommend Hannam Fertility Centre and the services of Dr. Robb. We first met with Dr. Robb after an unsuccessful IVF cycle with another fertility clinic. From day one, Dr. Robb showed empathy while also managing expectations and providing clear and concise information. His wealth of knowledge quickly became apparent, and the protocol he recommended ultimately worked and my partner is now 24 weeks pregnant. When my husband and I started this journey with Hannam, we were met with information, honesty, sensitivity and more compassion than we realized we needed. At every stage of our IVF process, through egg retrieval to transfer, Dr Robb and his nurses made us feel comfortable, confident and taken care of. The quality of care provided by everyone at Hannam was gold-star standard and for such a vulnerable service, I cannot say enough for the miracles that they provide. From the first conversation with Dr Robb, his goal was to help us have a healthy baby and his confidence became ours. An absolute trainwreck - I am uncertain how anyone should trust their fertility, if they cannot handle scheduling an appointment. For a premium clinic, the service I've received so far has been below standard. It took 18 days to schedule in my first appointment in the books for an appointment a month away. The appointment got changed 7 days before because the doctor was no longer available. Totally acceptable that things happen but on the day of the rescheduled appointment, the doctor never showed up - so I had to waste at least 15 minutes sitting on a zoom call. We started our fertility journey with Hannam over 2 years ago and just welcomed our beautiful boy this past October! During this time Hannam was very professional and up front about the fees and services. Dr. Robb was a warm doctor who guided us on the journey and answered all of our questions. My only concern was that at times the clinic was a little slow in getting things moving, from an administrative point of view. Excellent fertility clinic! I highly recommend Hannam fertility. Our physician at the clinic, Dr Paul Robb was attentive, thorough and precise in his approach. He presented realistic options to us and was candid about the probability of success of the various options. (Appreciated in an industry where some unscrupulous clinics take advantage of peoples hopes). The care at Hannam is individualized, not a one size fits all approach (which I hear can be common at other clinics that focus on seeing large volumes of patients). Dr Robb tailored a plan to address our fertility challenges. He was supported by an excellent team of nurses and other health care professionals who were efficient and communicated promptly throughout the process. The facility is also beautiful and centrally located in Toronto. It took a while to get an intial appointment but well worth the wait. We are extremely happy with the outcome, we welcomed a healthy baby girl in the summer. We highly recommend Hannam Fertility!!... (Show more)
I just wanted to update everyone that I am 5months pregnant now. I really am glad that I changed the fertility clinic. The doctor there was very supportive and positive and I conceived in the first month naturally with no medication whatsoever. I know everyone's case is different but trust yourself and don't fall for any tricks or if someone is pushing you for more invasive procedures without trying by yourself for as long as you can. I have had a terrible and extremely stressful experience with Hannam. I was trying to get pregnant and I have mild PCOS so I wanted to go to a fertility clinic to get some help. Every meeting with Dr. O'Connell has been stressful as she kept pushing me to say yes to more invasive treatments. I was extremely overwhelmed from the start but I never got any reassurance from her. She has absolutely no empathy and she doesn't seem to care about what we go through mentally. All she cares about is making money for the clinic. I haven't even tried to get pregnant for 6 months and she let me know that it is highly unlikely for me to get pregnant by myself or even with IUI(I never had any IUI treatments done for her to decide IUI wont work for me) and then she kept pushing me to get IVF treatment as that is the only chance for me to get pregnant. The staff were helpful but every meeting with the doctor only made me feel worse about going through all these difficulties to get pregnant. There were numerous days where I cried myself to sleep as I thought there was no light at the end of the tunnel and I would never get pregnant. IVF was not an option for us as we are young and we don't have that kind of money to spend on getting pregnant. I couldn't take her negativity anymore so I changed my fertility clinic. The doctor there was shocked by looking at O'Connell's diagnosis and she was surprised that I was given so much medication where I should just be trying by myself as my husband and I are healthy and do not have any big health issues. I was even given medication for diabetes at Hannam when I don't even fall under pre-diabetes category. Ladies, please take care of yourselves and when you find such negative people trying to influence you and your choices just get away from them. I am not pregnant yet but I am hopeful as I now have a doctor who is empathetic and who cares about my mental health as much as my physical health.... (Show more)
I could not recommend Hannam Clinic more! My journey has not been a short one but the team was patient with me to take the process at my speed. They never pushed or forced further intervention. It was an extremely well oiled machine for a busy working couple. The facilities are beautiful and put you at ease whenever you visit for various reasons. The staff is so kind and professional - always on time and always share a ton of information for you to review. They also have an integrated team which makes it easy to access resources such naturopaths, mental health professionals etc. I am now 12 weeks pregnant and they have helped me immensely during my early pregnancy to feel comfortable and navigate next steps. If you are thinking of pursuing Hannam I highly recommend it!... (Show more)
Could not have had a more wonderful experience. The clinic is beautiful and the staff are absolutely sensational. We loved our time with Dr Taher and immediately felt at ease in her expert care.
Worked with Dr Robb and his team initially. All the test were efficient and results came back with no issues so we were told to try naturally. I return after a year after no success and I was recommended to go for IVF. I wasn’t aware of IUI option and possibility of funding from the government for IVF. I was asked to put on the waiting list for funding of IVF and we plan to try IUI a few times. We were referred to Dr Taher and her team who were amazing even when everything was done virtually and mostly offsite. I was successful at my first IUI attempt and became pregnant at 39 years so I will recommend this option as a start along with an ND. I used Zeynep from their recommendations of ND and I was not disappointed as she supported me though out this process... (Show more)
I recently went through an egg freezing cycle and had a great experience at Hannam. The offices are beautiful and well organized. The lab is top-notch. Dr Arthur is amazing and her nurses are really, really wonderful - professional, empathetic and helpful from start to finish. Communication by phone and email was seamless and they made me feel really well cared for. The actual procedure was a lot easier than I thought it would be - I slept through it! When I started this process I wasn’t sure I would do it but I feel really good about my decision and am so relieved to have eggs saved for my future.... (Show more)
I booked an appointment a week before the date. It was cancelled an hour before. I called to ask for details as to why and was told that the person was talking to someone else and would call back right after that conversation was done - that was two weeks ago. I called back twice and sent three emails during that time and all messages have been completely ignored. Setting aside that cancelling a meeting 1 hour before isn't ever acceptable, I still don't understand why it was cancelled and, as said, now I am being completely ignored. Anyone/anything capable of this is capable of far worse and I would suggest everyone avoid a group with this clear lack of care and core values.... (Show more)
Go see Dr Hannam himself otherwise not worth your money and time.
I’ve had a terrible communication experience through most of my care at Hannam having done natural cycle monitoring, IUI and 2 failed IUI cycles all self funded with Dr Arthur and her team. Communication with Dr Arthur is sparse and with lack of empathy . The embryology lab forgot to call me after 7 days of waiting to update me in regards to number of embryos that formed blastocysts. Two weeks later, I get an email report regarding my abnormal PGTA results 9 mins on a Friday afternoon before they close so I cannot reach anyone to discuss my devastating results! I am shocked by their communication and lack of compassion for a large centre that charges more than the other large clinics in the GTA. Please go elsewhere!... (Show more)
Dr Robb and the Team at Hannam have been absolutely amazing through our IVF journey to our healthy pregnancy. They’re a constant source of Professionalism, compassion, and support just a call or email away. They’re my recommendation to family and friends. And I cannot thank them enough.
Hannam clinic is truly outstanding! I had two treatments at Mount Sinai and after two failed cycles we were told that our only option was using a donor eggs. Then we switched to Hannam (Dr. Robb) and here we're with our healthy beautiful daughter. I've never seen an institution run so professionally. Had a great first visit with Dr Atwal, she laid out the process very clearly and helped us feel confident about embarking on this journey. The clinic had a very warm atmosphere and made us feel comfortable and taken care of. The admin staff was super enthusiastic and answered every question we had!
