Dr Karen Gardner
Karen Gardner is the principal dentist and owner of the clinic. Qualified from The Royal London Hospital College she came to Spain in 1994, lured to Spain by the weather. Karen worked in the UK for 6 years , and now Spain for 16 years. With 22 years experience in dentistry,and having completed numerous courses in Spain and the UK you can be sure and confident that your teeth and mouth are safe in her hands. Karen , in addition to general dentistry ,has a special interest in orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry and facial rejuvenation, for which she holds additional qualifications and has much practical experience over the years. Karen is also very good and confident in treating children as well ,having 2 young boys herself does help ,and knowing that children are special patients, and must be treated with trust and care.
Dr Jorge Santillan Pizarro
He graduated as a dentist in 1993 at the National University of Cordoba (Argentina). Coming from a family of dentists, Jorge worked in his early career as a teacher assistant in the departments of Surgery and Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics from the same university where he studied dentistry, he also worked for eight years in his own clinic in Argentina as a general dentist, but maintains a special interest in the branches of Surgery and Prosthodontics combining these interests when making a Post-graduate training in Implantology and Oral Rehabilitation with Drs. Maddalena de Buenos Aires, during the years 1999 and 2000. In 2002 he moved to Spain where, after Standardising his degree at the University of Granada, began to dedicate himself as a specialist in Dental Implants and Oral Rehabilitation in numerous private consultations in the province of Alicante. Since 2005 he serves as Associate Surgeon implantologist at Dental Clinic Plaza having practiced a wide variety of surgical procedures of various kinds, and made numerous prosthetic restorations on dental implants as well as various types of surgical techniques to achieve the increase and / or regeneration of bone volume and soft tissue loss. He regularly attends different national and international conferences and courses, Santillán Dr. Pizarro is a member of scientific associations such as GAES (Group Alicantino Dental Studies) and SEPES (Spanish Society of Prosthodontics and Esthetics). In recent years accompanying this training has also gained extensive experience in the Cosmetic Dental area incorporating the routine use of new metal-free dental ceramics such as zirconia, alumina and glass-ceramic, among other materials, working with technologies CAD-CAM (Design and computer aided manufacturing) have revolutionized the aesthetic treatments and prosthetic-implant in the last decade, both as cosmetics and precision in the medium to long term in the manufacture of veneers, posts, crowns and bridges of ceramics.
Dr Beatriz Lara Liva
entist / Dental hygienist. Graduated as dentist in 1989 at National University of Cuyo in Mendoza (Argentina). Beatriz came to Spain aged eight , studied in Madrid and Benidorm and after finishing her high school decided to go back to Argentina to study dentistry. After graduating, she worked for one year at Mendoza’s Central Hospital on mornings and as assistent of the “Catedra de Endodoncia” at Cuyo’s University, during the afternoons. Once back in Spain in 1991, and after homologating the degree at University of Granada, Beatriz started her career as associated in Denia Clinic and after completing a Post-graduated training in Implantology and Surgery for three complete courses, in 1996, 2006 and 2010, she used her speciality in different clinics in Valencia, Benidorm, Calpe, Dénia and Gandía, in surgery, having special training in surgery and endodonthics ( root canal treatment ).
I had implants done here by Jorge and he was super efficient. The treatment was great and I received a lot of after care and support leading up to the treatment, during the treatment and after. The price was great too! I would highly recommend the practice
We are very disappointed with the cleaning standards of Dr. Karen Gardner… not professional and did not feel comfortable. We will not return.
The place is cozy and clean. Dental treatments are correct. I had some treatments a while ago and recently had a mouth cleaning and a check-up of my children's teeth with Karen and it was great. When Dr. Jorge treats me, his character is so distant and sober that it is not pleasant. But so far his work was good, so I've been coming back. However, on 10/31/2023, Dr. Jorge burned my tongue during an intervention in which he had applied anesthesia. I wrote to the clinic by WhatsApp sending photos and they told me that "this is common when the patient moves his tongue." I replied saying that I at least hoped to find a few words of apology in their message, since the way it was worded still made it seem like it was my fault. It would have been easy to answer "yes, this happens sometimes, we are very sorry, we hope it doesn't happen again." But instead they left my message on "seen." On 11/14/2023 I returned for the second part of the treatment. Nobody told me anything at all. On the way out, I mentioned it to the receptionist (who is very nice!) and she said "I forwarded your message to the doctor." So, it seems that pride is too high to deign to issue a simple apology. Mistakes happen, and I can understand it perfectly. But due to this absolute lack of empathy, I rule out returning to this clinic. If I don't give a single star it is because the facilities are correct, the treatments are also correct and above all Karen, the receptionists and the hygienist are very friendly.... (Show more)
Very professional and Efficient.
I have been coming to this practice since 2010 when I visit Spain. Jorge completed implant work and conducted other work that my dentist in the UK was reluctant to do. Excellant dentists well recommended.
Friendly and accommodating always ! Seem too use them in place of our UK dentist.
I was made to feel welcome & comfortable at the clinic by Jenny. I was pleased with the treatment I received from Karen. I would recommend this dental practice.
Jorge is an excellent dentist and has given me so much advice for cleaning and maintaining healthy teeth. The hygienist ìs fantastic and so thorough.
A great family dentist where the whole family feels relaxed. All the staff are very informed, and the prices of all procedures that we have ever had have always been very competitive and reasonable. Would recommend a visit!
Super friendly and helpful staff, who put you totally at ease
My husband and I joined this practice in 2020 having relocated to Spain from the UK. Initially I needed some detailed work done - root canal treatment, which had caused me a lot of pain for a while. After 3 visits with Dr Santillan the repairs were done, including erosions, I had zero pain and happy teeth! I have annual checkups including 20 minutes with the hygienist, who is excellent and very thorough. The clinic is super clean, modern and all the team very friendly, both receptionists speak good English and Spanish. The prices are very reasonable, especially compared to the UK. Highly recommended. Every year we come to Javea and always plan for the whole family to have a check-up, clean and do any required work (Not often, thankfully!) we have always found the practice super friendly, professional and accommodating as we are a family of 5. I had a recent hygienist appointment with Alex and was blown away by the outcome, she was very thorough and methodical, and managed to clear up stains that I'd believed had become permanent; I'm so happy with the results I keep finding myself smiling at passing mirrors!
I required an urgent repair to a denture, I emailed originally but was nearby so called in first thing in the morning. By early afternoon everything was back as before. Very efficient overall and very pleasant on reception too.

Had a 4 tooth bridge come out over the weekend. Karen was wonderful about solving the initial problem, including pulling a tooth , And suggesting future work. I look forward to working with her again. Great service Gracias.
First time here, unfortunately for a tooth extraction which was done in a very professional pain free manner.Pain all gone and after care explained.
My orthodontic and implant treatment were very effective and I'm very pleased with the results. However, my teeth have been left with rough cement residue on them after having the brackets removed. I thought at least having my teeth polished or cleaned, so they were smooth again, would have been included in the price.... (Show more)
