Dr Tim Barker
Tim qualified at Bristol University in June 1996 and joined Barker Dental Care in 1998, becoming practice owner in March 2007. Tim has attended numerous postgraduate courses on a variety of topics including endodontics, restoring implants, Fastbraces orthodontics, Invisalign orthodontics, Inman Aligner orthodontics, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), restorative and cosmetic dentistry. In particular, he has attended the residential courses at the world famous Pankey Institute in Miami and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Tim is also completing a year long course with Dr. Basil Mizrahi who is a specialist in prosthodontics and restorative dentistry in Harley Street, London and who is one of the country's leading experts in his field. Tim continues to build on his knowledge and skill base and strives to advance the practice by investment in new methods, materials and equipment. Tim has a wonderfully caring and patient chair-side manner, which combined with his years of experience and knowledge provides his patients with exceptional dental care.
Dr Kate Gilchrist
Kate qualified at Liverpool University in 1989 and joined Barker Dental Care in March 2015. Kate has been practicing in Hampshire for many years and is very enthusiastic about dentistry. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry but particularly enjoys getting to know her patients, helping them to overcome any anxieties they may have, and working with them to optimise their oral health and achieve the smile they desire. Kate continually strives to perfect her skills through continued education in such areas as occlusion as well as restorative and cosmetic techniques. She is also a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. K ate has been very popular with her patients, and she will not only provide our patients with high quality private dentistry but also with excellent customer care. A way from work, Kate is kept busy by her daughters, Georgina and Jenny. When time allows she enjoys badminton, swimming and going to the gym along with reading, attending the theatre and opera.
Dr Julia Gill
Julia qualified at The University of Sheffield in 2005 and joined Barker Dental Care in 2016. Julia is enthusiastic about dentistry and continually strives to perfect her skills through continued education. She has undertaken postgraduate training in dental implantology, Inman aligner orthodontics, as well as attaining a certificate in cosmetic and aesthetic restorative dentistry after completing a year-long course with one of the field's leading experts. Julia is a very experienced dentist in aspects of modern dentistry and aims for excellence whether providing routine simple dental care or more advanced cosmetic dentistry treatments. Julia has a very warm and friendly manner and has been very popular with her patients. This coupled with her experience and knowledge of dentistry means that she can provide our patients with excellent customer care and high quality private dentistry treatment.
What can I say! My daughter needed a filling and suffers from chronic anxiety. Tim and Nicole guided her through the treatment taking great care and consideration to ensure she was calm and was able to complete the treatment. Without a doubt the best dentist I have ever attended, not cheap but always good.
I was looking for a dentist after mine (my own dad) retired last year. I chose Barker's as their preventive dentistry philosophy aligned well with my dad's style of dentistry. I have been using this dental surgery for many years now and have always found the staff friendly. I had an appointment yesterday and once again I was greeted warmly by the reception staff. The dentist , Laura, was very good and although I only had a check-up and clean, explained everything and was very professional. I would highly recommend this dental surgery.
As much as I don't personally enjoy a dental visit, but who does, I feel perfectly relaxed with both the dentist and hygienist. I would highly recommend this practice for nervous patients.
Recently had Invisalign retainers and Tim and the team were fantastic throughout the whole process, very professional and always kept me at ease. I also had some composite done and was blown away by the results, many thanks to the team for giving me confidence in my smile!
Prior to coming to the care of Barker Dental I had endured the constant discomfort and often the pain of gum disease . Since beginning treatment and the sedulous care and attention of Tim and his highly able hygienist the disease has been arrested thus vastly improving my quality of life. As a very nervous, and chronically ill, patient who uses a wheelchair I can say that this is the best dental practice I've used since Stephen Green retired. I've seen both Reena Irvinn and Tim Barker and both have impressed me with their care, compassion and understanding of both my illness/disability and my anxiety. staff have made me feel welcome and comfortable. The surgery could do with a slightly wider wheelchair access as the turning space is tight, but they very much make up for this by being geniunely helpful. Reception staff have been quick to aid us on arrival and on leaving without showing an ounce of irritation. I've learned this is rare to see when you are a wheelchair user! Tim and his team are amazing. They really put you at ease and explains everything a calm manor, extremely professional. on my last follow up there are a small area of decay on a wisdom tooth that was treated with a filling which a painless procedure. Very positive experience. Had 3 implants which of course were expensive but the final result is worth it. Necessitated going to Newbury for the surgical procedures but the treatment there was very thorough & they gave me the confidence to go ahead. Both dental practices coped well,& safely with Covid restrictions & I'm pleased with the results
What can I say,just so happy with my treatment ,I was so nervous after not going to the dentist for a few years.didnt like to smile much anymore.But going to Tim (lovely man by the way)at barker dental,just had a wonderful caring professional experience.Tim is a wonderful dentist ,genuinely cares about your needs and what your dentistry outcome will be.Immediately I was put at ease and was given wonderful advice and treatment.i dont mind a bit of pain,but gosh really didn't feel discomfort.Even the numbing injections ,so gentle and reassuring.Going for my treatment each time was a pleasurable experience.!! Excellent service from Tim and the whole team, I could not recommended enough! I explained that I may have a time constraint and Tim was extremely accomodating and booked me in within days of my initial consultation. I completed fastbraces treatment and am very happy with the result!

We moved to this practice has been at the previous one for 30 years. It was a recommendation and I have to say we have not been disappointed. The service is second to none. Friendly staff who make you feel like you are their only client. We signed up for a payment plan which is of excellent value. I would like to say a massive thank you to Barker Dental Care for the excellent service in resolving my terrible tooth pain, especially during the challenging circumstances of the current Covid-19 pandemic. Tim Barker and Amy have provided a caring, dedicated and professional service providing telephone support and guidance during this unprecedented time. I had an emergency appointment as soon as permitted, and Tim carried out a thorough examination of the area of pain. Tim explained that my pain was potentially caused by a ‘sprained’ tooth ligament, which can be aggravated by grinding and jaw clenching during sleep. He suggested fitting a bite guard or sleep clench inhibitor (SCI), which he made and fitted straight away. The result has been amazing, my pain had eased within 24 hours and after a couple of days had completely gone! I am so pleased and relieved to be pain free!! I would highly recommend Barker Dental Care, registered here for 30 years or so. All the staff are welcoming and friendly, the surgery is clean, bright and airy and the practice has put in place the necessary Covid-19 safety procedures.... (Show more)
Many many thanks to Jacqui (Hygenist) and Barker Dentists. I suffered from quite bad gum disease (with bleeding) for some years. Jacqui has done an awesome job with the Antibiotics deep clean (plus no anaesthetics needed due to her amazing skills and careful touch). I now had a re-visit with Dr Tim Barker and have no bleeding and a 100% turn round. Gone from 4+ to 0,1 and the odd 2.. so so pleased. Thanks you so much Jacqui.. see you in three months. 👏👏👏.... I never thought I would have straight teeth but after completing my fastbraces treatment with Dr Tim I am delighted with the result. Perfectly straight teeth! Throughout the process, Dr Tim was patient, informative and so accommodating especially through the challenging lockdown period. Recently received treatment for Fast Braces and have been absolutely delighted with the outcome! In only a matter of months, I now have beautifully straight teeth. Great support and service received from Tim and his team throughout - would thoroughly recommend.
