About Andrew McLellan Counselling and Psychotherapy Andrew is a fully qualified and accredited (MIACP) counsellor and psychotherapist in private practice based at : Mind & Body Works, Wicklow Street, Dublin 2 He welcomes private clients and no GP referral is necessary. The practice is conveniently located for clients based in Dublin and surrounding area. Fee information: €80 per 50 minute session. Couples Therapy: €90 per 60 minute session. Andrew works with adult clients (18+), on a range of mental health and wellbeing concerns, including: anger, anxiety, bereavement,compulsive behaviours, living with chronic/serious illness, depression,LGBT issues, isolation and lonliness, negative intrusive thoughts, obsessive behaviours, relationship problems, self-esteem, sexuality, stress, suicidal thoughtsand many others. Andrew holds a first class BSc (Hons.) in Counselling & Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Relational Gestalt Therapy (Dublin Gestalt Centre) and a Postgrad Cert in Gestalt Psychotherapy. He has also completed training in Trauma Therapy, Couples Counselling, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills. Please note that Andrew does not work with clients under the age of 18 years. Andrew's approach to counselling and psychotherapy is humanistic and person-centred, grounded in empathy, acceptance, the genuineness of the therapist and respect for the individuality of each client. He offers clients a confidential and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, in which they can feel safe to explore their concerns or difficulties, and find their own answers to whatever faces them in life. Through the process of clarifying and accepting how things really are, many clients have found that they have more choice and control over their lives than they previously believed, and they find it possible to make the changes they want or need to make. For others, counselling is about beginning to accept circumstances over which they have no control, such as a bereavement, or the end of a relationship. Please note that, although his approach includes helping clients to reflect on their cognition (thinking), Andrew is not a CBT therapist. Prior to training as a therapist, Andrew studied at Oxford University, Trinity College Dublin and UCD and subsequently worked in the Irish arts industry. He completed his clinical training hours and subsequently provided counselling and psychotherapy to clients at Harold’s Cross Medical Centre from 2011 until 2018, before moving his private practice to a large psychotherapy centre in Dublin city centre. As a fully Accredited Member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MIACP), the largest professional body for counsellors in Ireland, he works within the IACP Code of Ethics and Practice. His work is fully insured and he attends regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional best practice. LGBT clients. He works with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients (18+) within an affirmative framework. This means that he seeks to provide a safe space, in which LGBTQI+ clients may gain greater understanding and acceptance of their own unique identity.
