Dr David Birkin
BDS MFGDP (GDC registration:103299) David was born in Bishop Auckland and was raised in Barnard Castle and Darlington, attending Yarm School from the age of 8. David graduated from the University of Newcastle on 2006 with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry and returned to the region post – graduation. He currently lives in Darlington with his wife, son and daughter. David worked in The Dental Centre Group for three years with Ben, Guy and Ian gaining experience with high need patients helping to stabilise declining oral condition and returning patients to a high standard of dental health before moving on to becoming a founding member of Alpha Dental Group in 2008 with the opening of the first Alpha site in Catterick. Further studies have meant that David was awarded Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP 2008) and has since gone on to complete UCLAN Teaching and learning in Dental Practice with Merit. Clinically, David enjoys restorative dentistry; in particular the cosmetic aspects of smile design and how to improve smile aesthetics. This has been aided by completion of a one-year restorative dentistry course at the Academy of Clinical Excellence.
Dr Neeraj Diddee
BDS MFGDP (GDC registration: 85829) Neeraj Diddee is a dental professional who was born and brought up in Durham and has recently resided to Newcastle. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2005 and has since been keen and motivated to deliver the highest quality of dental care as well as further developing his career. Since graduating, Neeraj has worked in the North East providing both NHS and Private dental care. He has continued to develop his professional training by gaining his postgraduate dental diploma in 2007, allowing membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. In 2008 he became a member of the Northern Division of the Faculty of General Dental Practice and was elected as the Secretary in 2009. He has also undertaken many varied courses including a yearlong course in Advanced Restorative dentistry which he has a keen interest to develop and apply when treating his patients. Neeraj joined the Alpha Dental Group in 2009 and is acting as the Lead Dentist in Fairfield (Stockton). He is enjoying the challenges of managing the practice and thriving to further develop his skills.
Dr Ian Gordon
BDS MFGDP (GDC registration: 58968) Ian graduated from Newcastle University in 1984 – before some of his partners went to primary school…! He grew up in Stokesley and went to the Friends’ School in Great Ayton – and now has practices in both places with Vitality Complete Dental Care in Stokesley and Alpha Dental Studio in Great Ayton – something, which was an ambition once he had decided to study dentistry. Ian is married to wife Jayne who is also a dentist and has three children. On qualifying, Ian returned to the area working in Guisborough and Acklam before buying his first practice in Eaglescliffe in 1989. He soon became involved in Vocational Training for new dental graduates and was a trainer for 13 times before becoming a Vocational Training Adviser in the region, a post he still holds. Ian went on to establish a further five practices in Guisborough and Middlesbrough forming The Dental Centre Group in 2000. A corporate chain acquired the Dental Centre Group in 2007 and in October 2008 Ian together with David Birkin took over an established practice in Catterick Garrison launching the first Alpha Dental Studio. Ian has always been involved in the politics of dentistry via involvement with local dental committees (LDC) nationally and locally. He was chair of Tees LDC for several years and is currently Vice Chair of North Yorkshire LDC. In 2006 he co-founded the dental pressure group Challenge to campaign for a better NHS contract for dentists and patients. Ian describes himself as an all rounder clinically and has undertaken additional training in many areas including Orthodontics (braces) endodontics (root fillings) and cosmetic dentistry (crowns and veneers) as well as keeping generally up to date via over 100 hours of postgraduate training a year. Currently he divides his working life between Alpha Dental Studio and Vitality, working for the Northern Deanery, representing the LDC and as a local adviser to one of the dental protection societies helping dentists with difficulties.
Yet another Dentists who do not accept NHS patients. How does anyone think people can afford to go Private. May as well leave everything until you’re in pain and ring 111. At least you’ll get NHS treatment then. Ridiculous though.
They are super, I had many appointments and have excellent experience with them.
dentists and staff are awesome , but if you need an emergency appointment forget it , you will have to wait 2 months
Excellent service in getting me out of severe pain from cavities and nerve pain. NHS 111 got me emergency appointments and they came through on the same day by offering me appointments. The reception staff are friendly and approachable, even the dentists offer advice and tell you every step of the way what they are about to do. They made me feel relaxed and comfortable for the procedures to be complete. I just wish I could get registered with them... (Show more)
Broke a tooth and got an emergency appointment via 111 the next day - I was terrified thinking I'd need anesthesia and it removed or something and have pretty bad anxiety especially surrounding the dentist. I don't remember the dentist's name but they were absolutely fantastic and Juno (?) Their assistant was also fantastic. Everything was clearly and calmly explained before happening and I was given clear options and time to decide. They were so calm and gentle I've never once been to a dentist without having some type of pain whether they stab my gums or are too heavy handed. I nearly teared up when I left as I couldn't believe how fast and easy it was. I wish I lived closer as I would love whoever I saw to be my dentist forever. The reception staff were very kind and friendly both over the phone and in person. Genuinely the only good experience I've ever had with a dentist thank you so much to all the staff you've all really boosted my confidence and helped me be less scared of the dentist thank you a million times... WOW, I have a complete irrational fear of the dentist, but I have never felt so calm and relaxed as I did here, Junu and I'm really sorry i can't remember the name of the dentist that carried out the procedure were "the best" I have ever been to, as an emergency as well, 6 stars if I could, thank you very much 😊 …

Got an emergency appointment at short notice through 111, gave my details to 111 got a call the next day for an appointment the same day, everything explained by the dentist (sorry I can't remember his name) had a decayed wisdom tooth removed with very little pain. I highly recommend if I lived closer to Northallerton I would definitely join their NHS waiting list.... (Show more)
They where there in my hour of need, desperate for treatment, I could not get a dentist anywhere, alpha took me in same day, everybody concerned at Northallerton practice were fantastic, from reception to dental room, the lady that sorted me was so relaxed, polite and very professional at her job, and to mention her colleague to, I can't thank them enough.. First class treatment. I went on an emergency appointment on the NHS though I am not an NHS patient due to being unable to register in the present Covid-19 circumstances. From first phoning to try to get treatment I was treated with polite and helpful advice and after explaining the circumstances was <$_0> the same day. On arrival the reception though busy, was nothing but helpful, courteous and polite. The dentist was charming, efficient and conscientious and I was made at ease and soon treated. Thank you to all concerned and also for accepting me on to your NHS waiting list. This is a busy practice with many dentist, but at no time did I feel rushed.... (Show more)
Always been absolutely terrified of visiting dentists .Set from a very young age I guess a lot of people can identify with this fear However I can not praise this practice enough . Right from the start you begin to feel more relaxed as the dentists confidence and reassurance just puts you at ease. Amazing staff, kind, pleasant , caring and supportive. My daughter goes with her 2yr old little girl to have her teeth checked and to get her use to the visits and they are amazing with her. Kim
I dislike the dentist after several bad experiences but this place and it’s staff are brilliant. My dentist is so patient and understanding, she never gets fed up with me, I trust her completely which I have never done before and I seriously can’t feel a thing.
I was 5 minutes late for my appointment and they still managed to see me e en as a new patient. The Dentist (Kiri Hughes) was professional, informative and offered plenty of good advice/options. Highly recommended.
