Dr David Birkin
BDS MFGDP (GDC registration:103299) David was born in Bishop Auckland and was raised in Barnard Castle and Darlington, attending Yarm School from the age of 8. David graduated from the University of Newcastle on 2006 with Distinction in Clinical Dentistry and returned to the region post – graduation. He currently lives in Darlington with his wife, son and daughter. David worked in The Dental Centre Group for three years with Ben, Guy and Ian gaining experience with high need patients helping to stabilise declining oral condition and returning patients to a high standard of dental health before moving on to becoming a founding member of Alpha Dental Group in 2008 with the opening of the first Alpha site in Catterick. Further studies have meant that David was awarded Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP 2008) and has since gone on to complete UCLAN Teaching and learning in Dental Practice with Merit. Clinically, David enjoys restorative dentistry; in particular the cosmetic aspects of smile design and how to improve smile aesthetics. This has been aided by completion of a one-year restorative dentistry course at the Academy of Clinical Excellence.
Dr Neeraj Diddee
BDS MFGDP (GDC registration: 85829) Neeraj Diddee is a dental professional who was born and brought up in Durham and has recently resided to Newcastle. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2005 and has since been keen and motivated to deliver the highest quality of dental care as well as further developing his career. Since graduating, Neeraj has worked in the North East providing both NHS and Private dental care. He has continued to develop his professional training by gaining his postgraduate dental diploma in 2007, allowing membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. In 2008 he became a member of the Northern Division of the Faculty of General Dental Practice and was elected as the Secretary in 2009. He has also undertaken many varied courses including a yearlong course in Advanced Restorative dentistry which he has a keen interest to develop and apply when treating his patients. Neeraj joined the Alpha Dental Group in 2009 and is acting as the Lead Dentist in Fairfield (Stockton). He is enjoying the challenges of managing the practice and thriving to further develop his skills.
Dr Ian Gordon
BDS MFGDP (GDC registration: 58968) Ian graduated from Newcastle University in 1984 – before some of his partners went to primary school…! He grew up in Stokesley and went to the Friends’ School in Great Ayton – and now has practices in both places with Vitality Complete Dental Care in Stokesley and Alpha Dental Studio in Great Ayton – something, which was an ambition once he had decided to study dentistry. Ian is married to wife Jayne who is also a dentist and has three children. On qualifying, Ian returned to the area working in Guisborough and Acklam before buying his first practice in Eaglescliffe in 1989. He soon became involved in Vocational Training for new dental graduates and was a trainer for 13 times before becoming a Vocational Training Adviser in the region, a post he still holds. Ian went on to establish a further five practices in Guisborough and Middlesbrough forming The Dental Centre Group in 2000. A corporate chain acquired the Dental Centre Group in 2007 and in October 2008 Ian together with David Birkin took over an established practice in Catterick Garrison launching the first Alpha Dental Studio. Ian has always been involved in the politics of dentistry via involvement with local dental committees (LDC) nationally and locally. He was chair of Tees LDC for several years and is currently Vice Chair of North Yorkshire LDC. In 2006 he co-founded the dental pressure group Challenge to campaign for a better NHS contract for dentists and patients. Ian describes himself as an all rounder clinically and has undertaken additional training in many areas including Orthodontics (braces) endodontics (root fillings) and cosmetic dentistry (crowns and veneers) as well as keeping generally up to date via over 100 hours of postgraduate training a year. Currently he divides his working life between Alpha Dental Studio and Vitality, working for the Northern Deanery, representing the LDC and as a local adviser to one of the dental protection societies helping dentists with difficulties.

I was feeling a little nervous this week at the thought of having a very old wisdom tooth removed! Thank you Emily for instantly putting me at ease, explaining the procedure, giving lots of reassurance and excellent care throughout. My nerves soon disappeared and in no time the tooth was out! Very friendly stuff and very good specialties and nurses. I treated my teeth here. Muna is one of the dentist is really good at her work. She can speak Persian Language too so I strongly recommend this place for those how is not fluent in English language and can speak Persian.
I went as always with the same sense of dread. Only to find a completely different experience, wonderful dentist and dental nurse, offered numbing gel prior to injection! Fabulous then a 3 D scan instead of impressions came out feeling good about the whole visit, thank you

Hi my appointment was for 2pm but they rang me and asked if I could do 215 instead fine with me. Sat there till 230 and a nurse came out and said we are going to be another 30 mins with no apology. Went down to the receptionist and said I want my money back as the service was very poor then all of a sudden I got to see another dentist. I paid £70 to se a dentist in advance as well hard earned and they don’t care. I was in with the dentist about 15 mins and she said I could do with a clean but was going to cost me another £45. Highly recommended! The receptionists are welcoming, the dental nurses are efficient and kind - and Nabeel is one of the most polite dentists I’ve ever met! After a terrible experience at a different dentist in Hampshire, who clearly just wanted as much money out of me as possible, Nabeel put me at ease and clearly explained what treatment was needed and why, as well as the costs up front. Had two fillings this afternoon and all went very well. The welcome at reception is always polite and friendly, and professional. My dental team of Kirsty and Sneham (my apologies if spelt wrongly!) Were amazing. They were kind and gentle and made me feel at ease in an uncomfortable situation! I am so grateful for their help. I just visited this dental clinic. I have given 3 star because the receptionist was very rude, rushing me to fill paperwork and no proper explanation whatsoever. No respect to client and made me feel like I went there to give them troubles. After stamping the form she told me the dentist needs to see this so I thought & asked now & she said yes hence I went upstairs to show it to dentist whilst the receptionist followed me to the stairs and said you need to go out! She didn’t treat me like patient but like intruder. I am sorry but that was very unprofessional. I am not the staff who works there and knows the process without explanation. I am the patient visiting the clinic first time and she made me feel like I should have known everything and understand her straight away while she talked abruptly and rudely. I hope this doesn’t happen to other patients’ like me. However, the dentist and dental nurse were kind, compassionate and explained throughly.... (Show more)
Always received excellent care at this dental surgery. Reception staff very helpful & accommodating with appointments. Dentists give clear and concise treatment plans and are caring and provide excellent dentistry. Recently seen a female dentist called Mona, she was pleasant, very caring & gentle. Wonderful service for an emergency repair on Saturday for a visitor
As an NHS professional myself, I am used to working in clinical environments and am very observant in regard to organisational culture and standards of practice. I have also had extensive dentistry in several settings in the last few years. I honestly can't praise Alpha enough: for their professionalism and clinical expertise, but mostly for their kindness, compassion, and non judgemental attitude. They really have a wonderful culture throughout the practice; their dentists, dental nurses, and admin/reception staff are so helpful and friendly. Large filling popped out last night. Called in this morning and got an appointment at lunch time. Brilliant! The lady dentist and assistant were very professional and friendly. 15 minutes....no pain and when I got home and looked at the large filling it looked like a natural tooth. Just fantastic.

I have a big phobia about dentists,I eventually plucked up the courage to go (which I know seems mad for a 61yr old to be anxious)mona and her assistant immediately put me at ease,at the moment I'm getting a denture done and I'm actually pleased to go,very good dentist and receptionists,can't recommend highly enough
having had the worst experience at my old dentist to the point where I cried and panicked every time I went, I was told about this dentist. sceptically, I signed up and I would never turn back! the team at alpha dental have been amazing with me and for the first time in over 10 years I haven't cried or panicked at the dentist! would 100% recommend this dentist to anyone :D... I'm a very nervous person when it comes to going to the dentist. Yet when I came here, the lovely dentist and dental nurse that treated me were absolutely wonderful. I know I'll still be nervous the next time I go, but honestly I now KNOW that I'll be taken care of with respect not just by the dentist but by the <$_2> too.... (Show more)
