Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital

I called reception and they could not tell me if Dr Tayob is in today or not, what's the point of having a receptionist just to transfer people around, so useless because they should be more informed about who is in or is not.

I am really disgusted in this hospital I had bad experience in the previous years and though things would change. The nurses are rude. The security acts as if they are CEO's here. Lenmed should fall under government hospitals because we are clearly paying for horrible service. No matter how bad the emergency is rather go to another hospital because at lenmed you will sit and be treated like you asking for a favour. This is my last here ever...... (Show more)

What kind of private hospital is this? Been here since 20:15pm and its now 23:45 and im still waiting for my niece, waiting for so long at a private hospital is crazy, whats private about such a service. Just called her as im in the waiting area and she still has not seen the DR. I should have taken her to Lesedi as theiw service is always quick... (Show more)

I would like to express my disappointment of the accounts at Lenmed Private Hospital trying to help their friends in debt collection and sharing our personal information telling them that we owe monies. So I went to ER around October last year (2023) and saw a doctor and everything was sorted I got medical attention and had back home. My savings were almost depleted and I was short for the ER and Doctor, but I received notification about it and settled the bill in December (2023). I would like to know why I’m being called by debt collectors telling me about collections fees and all and referring to amounts which are settled besides that when did the hospital info me that they will be selling my information like this? I would like to know this information before I go to report all of this to management on how your stuff is helping their friends by selling our information and whoever did this I want them to call them to take my information out of the system ASAP. Another issue is the way the maternity ward has changed from the service to the quality of food or the availability of the food thereof. I was admitted for a few days 2 weeks back and received one of the worst services ever wasn’t happy about a lot of things, coming to a ward and having to be given toasted bread for super and given excuses on why they couldn’t take your orders to top it off there following day I was given food which I didn’t order and was told that there is nothing left I’m honestly shocked at the fact that we are paying for all these services and to receive such is honestly disappointing. I recall my bed being changed once in the 4 days that I was there and being given 2 gowns without strings and being that they don’t have enough can someone explain to us if we should rather go to other hospitals for a better service? I’ve given birth to 2 beautiful babies in this hospital and had the best service ever I’m not so sure at this point with my current pregnancy if I honestly want to risk my life like this, some of the nurses took their precious time to attend to our queries, I recall the doctor coming in the morning and telling them to administer a specific medication and it took them the whole day to do it.. The worse part is when you call non of the departments pick up, from accounts to reception they literally hang up the calls on your ears without saying a word. Utterly disappointed.... (Show more)

My mom was admitted last year November 23 till to date she is still in hospital.Nurse take from pillar to post when I want drs who are treating my mom.. I don't know what is happening because my mom has been in hospital for long.Really I am not happy about Lenmed in Lenasia.It is hard for to get the Dr.Pls can management assist... (Show more)

We have been waiting over 2 hours in casualty, my son his sick, u will never say we in private hospital, Baragwanath hospital is Better. am so annoyed

The stuff and service is always outstanding... I stay in Ormonde but when it's an emergency I rather pass all these other hospitals and head straight to Lenmed hospital. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read the reviews expecting the worst at this hospital but upon appointment and admission so far I'm happy the staff is very friendly and service is up to standard hygiene precaution are taken and it give you a piece of mind My only issues so far has been the pharmacy, it tend to take a while before getting the medication and lack of seats in the ward,other than that all is well... Best treatment recieved from the stuff members, very patient and polite. I would like to give created to the ladies that were on duty from the 31st of December 2022 to the 4th of January 2023 in the maternity ward. You ladies are the best. If only there was an option to give more stars as these 5 stars are not enough you deserve more.... (Show more)

I walked in at Lenmed with tears rolling down my eyes, I had seen the reviews and was not confident of the hospital at all, I went there because I wanted to be assisted by dr Lorgat who is soo professional and helpful the guy is walking with God himself, anyway we were urgently friendly assisted from the casualty by 2 ladies sadly I couldn't get their names, they wasted no time on us and called the doctor who was also professional, everyone was friendly and helpful from their cleaner, security, I mean all of them, my baby was admitted at Maternity NICU, the staff members there, sister Nhlanhla treated my baby like hers and her team thank you, from admitting us to assuring me that my child will be fine! Their service is pathetic hey for a private hospital you’ll swear it’s a government hospital .. Please I don’t recommend you attend this hospital unless you want to be miserable!!! Their nurses are disgusting and unprofessional don’t care about the elderly take their own time seeing to patients , I had to help a patient get to a car after being discharged and mind you I just came out of theatre !!! You guys need to hire more nurses who will try and treat their patients properly !!! And the Wi-Fi doesn’t even really work gosh I’m really shocked hey .. Reception n swirch board dont seem to like answering their phone.They just put it off in ur ear. Not once but numerous times.

My spine had locked followed with severe chest pains, I was taken to the ER via an embulance and I was physically unable to breathe and move. When the paramedics took me into casualty the head nurse asked them what was wrong with me the paramedics explained that I'm unable to move, spinal lock and that I'm struggling to breathe. The nurse at that time said I look fine and told the doctor that I only had chest pains. The doctor that seen to me send me for chest x - rays whilst completely ignoring that my spine was locked and I was temporarily paralyzed. He later came back giving me PANADO and telling me to see a psychotherapist and I'm young so I'm having anxiety problems . I said Dr you didn't check my back, he said "it's probably just an anxiety attack" and discharged me. I went home I was still in the worst state I went the next morning to a chiropractor because I was still critical and it was then picked up that my spine was dislocated in 3 places. I would just like to say you need to hire more competent doctors because the ones that are in casualty are only qualified to issue PANADO, I'm grateful for chiropractor and that I actually got out of ledmed because I think I would've been dead by now if they had to take care of me further.... The treatment and care my mum is receiving is excellent from both Drs and Nurses however my mum Is on life support, was in the medical ward on 21st March 2023 and transferred to Medical ICU Isolation 13 on the 22nd March, today we as her children have left messages with the respective Drs receptionist, the nurse on duty also called whilst I was there today (24/03/2023) between 3-4pm, the nurse called both Drs and still no response. We are highly stressed as our mum is 85years of age and we believe non-communication either telephonically or WhatsApp would be appreciated. Further more with her transfer to ICU we were not aware, a friend of ours was in ICU and they alerted us that mum is there. We would appreciate some kind of feedback as soon as possible.... Mum was in Surgical 1 for almost a week. Nurses were atrocious. When asked for help DIRECTLY AFTER SURGERY, they would tell her to do it herself. They’d forget to give her pain medication and she’d have to call lenmed reception to request her prescribed pain medication around midnight as during the day they forgot. When the assistance bell was pressed - No one would show up. And when a complaint was placed to the head nurse, treatment only got worse. No doubt there are brilliant doctors but the treatment from the ward staff needs to taken up.... (Show more)

Right from reception up to the day nurses and doctors in the MATERNITY WARD on the day I arrived were incredible!!! Everyone was so pleasant, kind and funny. I would give them a 10/10 for sure!! Just wonderful people!! However, the Hospital itself is very disorganized. My procedure was booked a month in advance and when I arrived, I was told that there was no bed for me and had to wait over an hour before I was admitted to a room. The nurses were great about it, and tried to do what they could, but I literally had to sit for the most part in reception till I was moved to the labour room for them to take my vitals etc. (note I was not admitted in to have a baby, my procedure was not labour related) They did eventually have a bed available and it was in a private room which helped and admittedly I cannot complain because I was very, very lucky and spoilt in that sense but I should never have needed to wait for a bed just because the hospital was full - My procedure was planned and booked over a month in advance, they knew I was coming. Then to get meds the next day at the pharmacy was a nightmare, I was tired and in pain and stood waiting for a while watching as there must have been well over 10 people behind the counter, all laughing, eating cupcakes. Eventually someone came to me and told me that there are only 2 staff members working the counter and they were busy - they were busy with other nurses from the hospital which I thought was insane. I left because to expect me to wait after I just had surgery a few hours prior is crazy. I ordered my meds online with Dischem on the way home and got my meds immediately. Not to mention, the parking situation is just as tragic and not ideal for anyone who just got out of surgery and can barely walk. For the nurses that helped me that day and obviously my own specialist doctor, I would go there again if needed, but the hospital itself is just awful and I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Currently experiencing cholera symptoms called the emergency line from 23:00 as I don’t have an medical aid but have trustees to pay my medical bills the call rings unanswered till it automatically goes off called the receptionist tells me same story puts me true same process I thought it was the best but i can see it’s very unprofessional...
