Dr Alberto Barros
Specialist in Medical Genetics by the Order of Physicians, Full Professor and Director of the Department of Genetics of the Faculty of Medicine of Porto - Founder and Director of the Breeding Genetics Center, pioneered in Portugal of Intrauterine Artificial Insemination, In vitro fertilization of spermatozoa (May 1985), cryopreservation of sperm in liquid nitrogen (October 1985), intrauterine artificial insemination with donor spermatozoa (October 1985) and in vitro fertilization with intracytoplasmic microinjection (June 1994). Director and responsible for the team that obtained the first world pregnancies in two situations: total sperm immobility (through intracytoplasmic microinjection, 1996) and paraplegia with no ejaculation due to spinal cord injury with firearm (intracytoplasmic microinjection after harvesting Sperm by endorectal electroejaculation, 1997).

It was a very long journey until I achieved my miracle. I have a lot to thank Prof. Alberto Barros and his team, with special affection for nurse Célia and her dedication, concern and professionalism. May I be forgiven by all the others who were equally impeccable, but whose names I don't remember. (except for one person whose name I won't say, who was extremely unpleasant and inconvenient). But I still have to thank Dr Cristiano Oliveira and his team (Andreia, Ana, Carla, Maria do Céu... I hope I didn't forget any of them! You were so patient with me in my moments of stress...).. Dr. Cristiano was tireless. One of the best doctors and human beings I've ever met. If I had my miracle, it was undoubtedly thanks to the stubbornness and resilience we had as a doctor and patient. What a bunch of nonsense. There is no more humanity. All they want is money and they don't help anyone. Now after my comment, I'm sorry to help anyone, my opinion doesn't change. I'm from Porto but I chose to go to Braga, as it was better received that way. It's more that the employees look sideways at the customers, how crazy, you're the ones who need a psychologist.... I went to donate oocytes, the psychologist Juliana Pedro was excellent, then I was seen by José Teixeira da Silva who practically focused on my weight of 70kg, which I work by lifting weights and not sitting like him, I pick up very heavy doors in the wood factory, so I have heavier bones and I'm a little broad in the shoulders, but I never thought that was a problem, I thought they really needed oocytes and not to insult people as fat, then the clothes I wear are much wider I, out of my own taste, went with the intention of donating oocytes and not becoming a model!!! I don't recommend it to anyone!!!But it wasn't just the weight, it was also the age above all, lol I'm not obese, I'm just five kilos heavier and it wasn't thinking about your financial growth, nor about the money, I earn more from working, it was for other women to have the opportunity to be mothers, it's better to stay here because, you don't have any character to debate, I don't recommend it to you and it's over! There was no problem, why did they insist I went there early to get to the end? It's not possible because of my age, after all you are not professionals at all!!... (Show more)
I don't even have words, I went to donate, very well attended to, attentive psychologist, nurse, don't even mention it, she gave me a class on contraceptive methods and even recommended a new contraceptive until I had the IUD inserted. Wonderful. I highly recommend it. It is good for both the giver and the receiver. Now I will wait for the test results and, God willing, begin the process.... (Show more)
In this clinic we fulfill our dream of becoming parents and today we have our son Gabriel in our arms :) We want to thank the entire team as everyone was fundamental and attentive throughout the entire process. However, our special thanks goes to Dr. José Teixeira da Silva who followed everything from the beginning, Dr. Sandra Soares, Dr. Cristiano Oliveira, Dr. Soraia Pinto and Nurse. Carla. A clinic that closes for holidays throughout the month of August...
I don't know of a clinic with such competent and educated people in Portugal. Congratulations on the excellent work. The only bad thing is sometimes the waiting time even if you have an appointment.
I came to this clinic after several treatments in Coimbra with the decision that it was impossible to have my own child. Dr José Teixeira said we just need to get a good egg. Today my twins are 7 months old and they are the most wonderful little thing in the world. In this clinic they may not get everything clear but I have no doubt that they work miracles.... (Show more)
